IN A BADGER WAY is the second
book in Shelly Laurenston's Honey
Badger Chronicles series. Although it is part of a series with
characters from Laurenston's "Pride" series making appearances as
well, I think IN A BADGER WAY
works as a standalone story. The romance in this book is stellar, but
what makes these stories so addictive are the characters and humor. In
this installment of the trials and tribulations of three honey badger
shifter sisters, the youngest sister finds her way. Stevie was a child
prodigy and her creativity and superior intellect draw people to her --
for the best and worst reasons. For bodyguard and panda shifter Shen,
Stevie is just a beautiful and dynamic woman who drives him crazy in
every way possible.
Shelly Laurenston tells a story with a lot of moving parts that wind up
converging with terrible and terrific results. One piece of this story
involves Stevie's father and the inevitable fallout that Stevie and her
sisters have to deal with because of his shenanigans. Another piece of
this story involves yet another psycho out to mess with and generally
endanger and enrage hybrid shifters. Yet another piece of the story
focuses on Stevie and her sometimes endearing and sometimes loopy
journey of self-discovery. And, last but not least, this story is about the
romance that develops between Stevie and Shen. I love it all! I love all
the growly violence, the strong women who don't suffer fools, the
laugh-out-loud moments, and the sweet and sexy romance. But the
cast of a thousand characters makes this story truly amazeballs.
IN A BADGER WAY has everything:
laughs, female badasses, and a satisfying romance. I'm happy to check
in with familiar characters it was interesting to see Kyle down a notch
from his usual level of "insufferable" as he acts as a friend to Stevie.
Reading about the exploits of the MacKilligan sisters is always a blast,
and the only thing better than reading about them would be watching
them on the big screen while scarfing down some popcorn. I look
forward to reading Shelly Laurenston's next off-the-wall and fabulous
shifter romance.
Petite, kind, brilliant, and young, Stevie is nothing
like the usual women bodyguard Shen Li is interested in.
Even more surprising, the youngest of the lethal, ball-
busting, and beautiful MacKilligan sisters is terrified
of bears. But she’s not terrified of pandas. She loves
pandas.
Which means that whether Shen wants her to or not, she
simply won’t stop cuddling him. He isn’t some stuffed
Giant Panda, ya know! He is a Giant Panda shifter. He
deserves respect and personal space. Something that
little hybrid is completely ignoring.
But Stevie has a way of finding trouble. Like going
undercover to take down a scientist experimenting on
other shifters. For what, Shen doesn’t want to know, but
they’d better find out. And fast. Stevie might be the
least violent of the honey badger sisters, but she’s the
most dangerous to Shen’s peace of mind. Because she has
absolutely no idea how much trouble they’re in…or just
how damn adorable she is.
