Jayden Brooks, SWAT officer responds to a call of a hostage situation in a school; it seems a gangbanger brought a gun to recruit new members to the gang. Now, he is holding a classroom hostage and threatening to kill the teacher first. Brooks gets one look at the beautiful, brave teacher and he wants nothing more than to run in and rescue her. Something about her draws him... could she be his one, the legendary mate that each werewolf wants to find.

Selena Rosa grew up in the gangs, broke free after losing a brother to the violence, and wants to help other young people do the same. She survives thanks to the gorgeous, huge, hunk in uniform. But, the trauma has changed her. Is she going to be able to control these strange bouts of anger? And what about the tingle she gets being near Officer Brooks -- will those survive the WOLF RISING ?

WOLF RISING is the amazing continuation of author Paige Tyler's SWAT series and I believe it is the best so far. The characters are well rounded in the fact that Brooks and Selena both know what they want in life and go for it. Her world is slightly derailed by a number of things and turning wolf is the least of them as the readers learn later in the book, a lot of things she believed to be truths turned out to be lies.

The storyline follows the last book, WOLF HUNGER, in that the Hunters are still gunning for all werewolves; our favorite British werewolf Zane is dealing with his injury from the wolfsbane-laced bullets and a few more little items, if you add in dealing with gangbangers and synthetic heroin-laced energy drinks., then you have WOLF RISING . There are, of course, some funny moments, especially when Connor explained to Brooks that the cat that had wandered into their world had named herself -- hilarious when he proved it. And let's not forget the romance between the star couple, it was instantaneous and steamy, but even that has some rough moments when she partially shifts during intimacy and freaks. Worry not all works out in the end but getting there is heartbreaking yet funny. Picture a naked SWAT guy chasing after a hysterical woman who's stolen his truck and there are witnesses.

If you love hunks in uniform, a spitfire heroine, drama, danger, intrigue, and some really steamy moments then get your hands on WOLF RISING .
