Romance Western
Fans of Jennifer Ryan have eagerly awaited the fourth and
final installment of the Montana
Heat series. Well the wait
is over. TEMPTED BY LOVE is here and it has
all the trademark characters of a wondrously crazy Jennifer
Ryan story. It's as well-constructed as all the others and
we get to
revisit some of the characters from the three previous books
in the series. If you are new to this journey don't
hesitate to catch up, but be assured that all four books
can stand alone. Once again we are caught up in the world of the DEA and a
group of men who are bravely ensconced in the often brutal
world of drugs and drug trafficking. Drug dealers have no
soul. They are indiscriminate in doling out punishment for
anyone who dares to intrude on their lucrative business.
Once in their claws, they do not let go. The only end of a
business relationship is death. Alina Cooke is the baby sister of the Cooke brothers who along
with Jay Bennett are members of a team -- specifically a DEA
team. Alina is a pharmacist and proud partner in a
pharmaceutical distribution company. Alina is fastidious
about her life and career. So much so there is little time
for a social life much less actual dating. Alina and Jay
have been thrown together at many Cooke functions, the
latest being the weddings of her brothers to the loves of their
lives. Being part of the weddings left Alina with mixed emotions.
Happiness for both men finding their true love, getting two
new wonderful sister-in-law's and a nephew in the bargain.
But once again, Alina is reminded of how alone she is. Agent
Bennett is aware of a kind of sadness in Alina and has to
admit to being rather attracted to her. Big no no. After
all, she is the baby sister of the men he works with and
considers to be almost brothers. Alina and Jay think of their mutual attraction as their
biggest mistake. It creates a great deal of angst, not to
mention taking up so much of their thoughts. Alina is involved in what at first glance appears to be a
case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. She's in a
serious car crash that looks like it was no accident, but
Alina doesn't have any enemies so why would anyone target
her. For Jay and for the Cooke brothers, the first
inclination is to think that it might be someone from their
past. DEA agents meet rather unsavory types all the time
and someone could be after revenge. Who better to target
than the younger sister? But as facts unravel, it looks like there is some other
force in place in the incident. Someone perhaps close to
Alina who has put her in harm's way. Things are not always
as they seem. Innocent people get themselves involved with
shady types all the time. Jay is not about to let anything happen to Alina. She is
now under his protection. Alina is going to get a close-up
look at the world of the DEA. As with any Jennifer Ryan story, TEMPTED BY LOVE captures
your heart along with your attention. Ryan's attention to
detail is second to none. Lots of surprises pop up along
the way to the conclusion of TEMPTED BY LOVE. Strong women
with equally strong men, whose hearts had been hidden away
for many years, are lucky to find that missing part of their
lives. I loved this series!
SUMMARY
She was this Montana Man’s greatest temptation . . . Alina Cooke—little sister of his two best friends—is the
last woman DEA agent Jay Bennett should be waking up next
to on the day of her brother’s wedding. But their powerful
attraction ignited a powder keg of desire, and their once
simple friendship has just become impossibly complicated. Alina’s always been steady, focused, and lived on the safe
side of life. Jay is totally devoted to his dangerous job.
She knows a future with him will be filled with worry that
one day he won’t come home. She’s done it with her
brothers. She’s not sure she can face that uncertainty with
the man she loves. Yet being in his arms is a bad idea they
keep repeating, again and again. When Alina is run off the road, Jay fears his job has made
her a target. But the threat in Alina’s life is closer than
they think. As the enemy gets more ruthless, Alina proves
she’s no easy target and Jay will do anything to bring them
down. Because surviving and being together is the only
thing that matters.
