Erica had been spending some time traveling around visiting different places, different packs. But, being with Hudson and his pack was different. She was falling for Hudson. Problem is she, and he made an agreement for a no strings fling. Hudson, too, has other ideas and it all comes down to wanting to make her his WOLF'S MATE.
They might have planned no strings, but nature and fate have other ideas. After going home Erica finds out she pregnant, so she returns to tell him. Only to find that he had gone to her pack to see her. When he discovers she carrying his baby he sets out to do what he always planned. Make her his mate.
WOLF'S MATE might be a novella size book but it is packed with emotion, drama, steamy love scenes and really great dialogue. Hudson is an older wolf (remember they do live much longer than mere humans) so he didn't want to scare the younger woman off by going neanderthal. Unfortunately, his not being forceful with his mating desire left Erica confused. Needless to say, they were still at odds when she announced she was pregnant. She thinks the situation is forcing him to mate her, knowing he is old-fashioned. He thinks it was heaven sent, so he can do what he wants and spend the rest of his long life with her.
There is no real dangerous situations, just some teenagers getting out of hand so the drama is completely within this couple's little world, dealing with the communication or non-communication they are suffering from. Not to say there isn't any action, because, I did get a kick out of Hudson and his alpha brother Malcolm sparring with each other, on more than one occasion, usually with big brother giving some sound advice. The other part that I liked there was no jealous scenes with some she-wolf trying to belittle or take down Erica because of Hudson. Erica had won over most of the women in the Kendrick pack with her salon magic. Give a she-wolf an amazing manicure and she is your friend for life.
WOLF'S MATE might be a short story but it is one that will stay with you long after you finish, and have you wanting more.
