Mimi Rousseau is grateful to Bryan Baker, an entrepreneur who has funded her dream of opening a French bistro and inn and become a father figure to her. She's excited about the inn's first wedding, even more so as it features a celebrity talk show host. Unfortunately, family squabbles seem to be interfering with the overall joviality of the wedding party but nothing puts a damper on things like a dead body. Now, Bryan is dead and Mimi is a suspect. Can Mimi figure out who is behind Bryan's murder?
A DEADLY ΓCLAIR is the first book inΒ A French Bistro Mystery Β series. Daryl Wood Gerber introduces us to a whole host of characters with some complicated and quite entangled relationships. Angelica Edmonton, the famous talk show host, is Bryan's niece and sorting out the various relationships and how they might apply to the murder requires even Mimi to keep a dry erase board listing of who, what, and where.
I like how Daryl Wood Gerber ties together the similarity between creating recipes and investigating crimes. Mimi is an interesting character and I'd like to get to know her better. With the plethora of characters in A DEADLY ΓCLAIR, it was hard to focus on just one character, even though she was the main heroine. However, I have to admit that Heather Holmes intrigues me far more with her talk of aliens and a mysterious husband.
A DEADLY ΓCLAIR is packed full of scrumptious sounding foods and Daryl Wood Gerber provides readers with several mouth-watering recipes at the end of the book. I could practically smell the delicious flavors permeating the storyline as A DEADLY ΓCLAIR truly centers around food. If you love cozy culinary mysteries, then A DEADLY ΓCLAIR is exactly your cup of tea!
