VIRGIN IN THE CITY is a standalone romance novel by Alexa Riley. Pepper is minding her business when she spies the delectable UFC fighter, and now her neighbor, Teddy, through her peephole. These two are instantly drawn to each other, and their romance is both adorable and totally hot at the same time. After years focused on his athletic career, Teddy finds it refreshing to find someone who likes him for himself and who he can let loose with. Pepper is attracted to a man who is a tough fighter, but who is a gentle teddy bear with her.
Pepper is a quirky, and somewhat sheltered, young woman trying to make it in the big city. Teddy is fiercely protective of Pepper, the more he gets to know her, and his feelings grow. Although she is initially drawn to Teddy, his profession gives her a slight pause. Pepper's father was a professional fighter, as well as something of a hothead. She's wants to be cautious before falling for Teddy, in case he has too much of her father's temperament. Over the course of the book, Teddy is able to show Pepper how much he cares for her, and that she doesn't have to worry about him living a life of chaos. This hero and heroine balance each other out and expand their horizons. Interestingly, both main characters are virgins in VIRGIN IN THE CITY. Pepper has never found anybody she could let her guard completely down with, and Teddy was always too concentrated on training. Fortunately for these two virgins, Teddy's friend Rico lends Teddy the benefit of his vast experience and gives his seduction tips.
VIRGIN IN THE CITY is a wild and wonderful tale of love at first sight. There is a little conflict near the end of this book, but it's brief and doesn't distract from the romance. Teddy and Pepper's friends offer a little comic relief and a great sounding board for the couple. As she often does, Alexa Riley provides multiple epilogues to give readers a look into the future to check on the characters. I look forward to Alexa Riley's next book.
