Inspirational Romance | Amish
There comes a time when Amish women just know that their
days of being a maedel are over and their chances of
having children reduced. Now back in her small community of
Birch Creek in Ohio, Ivy Yoder feels that her
opportunities for love are gone. She thought she had a
chance when she met John Kelly, a nice Amish man in
Michigan, but no letters had come from him in over a
year. All her friends are getting married or having children
and now even her job is over. There are no dreams left,
but Ivy is realistic and happy to hear that there might
be a possibility of working in a shop. Returning home
from a visit, Ivy is surprised to find Noah Schlabach
visiting with her parents. While she knew his Great-Aunt
Cevilla lived in Birch Creek, Ivy had not seen him in
over a year as he lived in Iowa and worked as an
auctioneer and antique specialist. Now, he's here to
help clear out boxes of old things in Cevilla's attic and he
needs Ivy's help as the cantankerous Cevilla
has insisted that Ivy would be more mindful of certain
things in the boxes. Why on earth had Cevilla insisted
that the boxes could only be opened when they were both
there to do it? Written by the very well known and respected writer,
Kathleen Fuller, WORDS FROM THE HEART is the third book
in her highly regarded series called The Amish Letters. WORDS FROM THE
HEART is a character driven novel
and tells the story of Ivy Yoder who was previously
introduced in the first novel, THE PROMISE OF A LETTER.
While still delightful as a stand-alone story, Fuller's
many fans are sure to appreciate this intriguing story
that also contains love letters written between a certain
Bunny and CJ while he was serving in the Korean War. With her solid knowledge of Amish customs and families
and a keen sense of plot development, Fuller has crafted
a very interesting and inspiring Amish story that weaves
the stories of two women who each found different ways to
fill their hearts. The elderly Cevilla Schlabach is
wonderfully eccentric and blunt with others. Reading
WORDS FROM THE HEART almost makes you laugh out loud at
Cevilla's antics as she struggles with meddling to move
Noah and Ivy together or to "Let God" have a chance. Amish story fans as well as those who believe in the
power of love and forgiveness are sure to enjoy WORDS
FROM THE HEART as well as Kathleen Fuller's wonderful
series that weaves romance and correspondence to find
the right mailbox in the heart!
SUMMARY
Her fingertips brushed against something else in the box
of doilies. She lifted a bundle of letters, neatly tied
with a thin red ribbon . . . Ivy Yoder hasn’t heard from John King in over a year. She
knows it’s time to let go of the idea that they will one
day marry, but she’s humiliated to be one of the oldest
single women in her Amish community of Birch Creek. When
quirky Cevilla Schlabach asks her to help clean out an
attic, Ivy is grateful for the distraction. Noah Schlabach isn’t from Birch Creek, or even Ohio. His
job as an auctioneer takes him around the country and
away from a typical Amish life, but he still remains
devoted to his family. So when his aging aunt asks him to
help clean out her attic, he agrees. Plus, who knows what
curious items he might find up there? As Noah and Ivy work side by side, they come across a
different kind of treasure: a packet of letters written
during the Korean War. Soon they are swept up in the
story of two young people falling in love—even as they
remain determined not to fall in love themselves. Words from the Heart is a moving story of lost love
letters, fragile fears, and the beauty of taking another
step forward.
