Tiger has helped take down two out of the three people responsible for the plot to kidnap children and test them with unapproved and generally dangerous drugs in hopes of giving vampires and wraiths immunity to daylight. Only one person still remains, Ciara Dream. Unfortunately, Ciara is aware Tiger is coming. Jonas is by her side to help, but will they be able to destroy the last stronghold housing the experiments or will the world they know be forever changed with vampires and wraiths walking in daylight?
I have fallen in love with the desolate world featured in the Outcast series! Throughout the series, we see a study in contrasts, something that becomes even more evident in THE BLACK TIDE. Keri Arthur shows us the darker side, with the unconscionable kidnapping and experimentation on children, contrasted against the warmth and love we see between Tiger and her ghostly companions. Tiger wasn't a character I expected to like, either. She is a dรฉchet, a genetically engineered soldier created specifically to sexually entice her targets and mine their memories for necessary intelligence- and yet now she is a protector for Bear, Cat, and all the other children destroyed in the war and left in their ghostly forms.
THE BLACK TIDE is almost non-stop action, as Tiger is in a race against the clock. Keri Arthur continues to amaze me at her gift for crafting stories that draw me into her world as she perfectly blends together phenomenal character development with spectacular world building. If you love dark urban fantasy or apocalyptic tales, then THE BLACK TIDE is right up your alley.
THE BLACK TIDE is the third and concluding book in the Outcast series. I've grown to love Tiger, Bear, Cat, Jonas, and all the rest of the characters and so it makes me more than a little sad to see this series ending. Bear and Cat have especially stolen my heart and I regret that I won't get to see them in future books as their loyalty as well as their antics always make me smile. Instead, I'll look forward to whatever worlds and adventures Keri Arthur has in store for me next!
