If hot and steamy is to your liking, then grab a copy of
BEAUTIFUL LAWMAN by Sophie Jordan but only if you have time
to read -- uninterrupted. Yep. BEAUTIFUL LAWMAN is one of
those stories that need to be read in one setting -- or
close to it. Characters are eclectic and hot, scenes are
steamy and fun, and the story line is rather intriguing.
Piper and her sister Malia are very busy. Busy trying to
keep their heads above water, which is a really difficult
task. They live in a rather small town called Sweet Hill where
their last name Walsh makes people kind of shudder. Which
is so unfair, but hard to fight. So you might wonder why
they don't move somewhere else.
And that's exactly what Sheriff Hale Walters tells Piper
she should do. But there's an important vital reason that
Piper stays in Sweet Hill and this strong willed stubborn
woman isn't about to let anyone make her run. After all she
has endured, Piper is willing to do just about anything to
stay in this candidly inhospitable town.
Sure there are a few people who have been gracious, but they
seem to be few and far between. Getting and keeping a job
is a problem as well. No one is willing to overlook any
issues that might put Piper in a bad light -- all because
she is one of those Walshs. With the pickings real slim,
Piper is put in a position that forces her to accept jobs
that reinforce the ongoing perception of her family.
For some reason Hale is attracted to this petite woman who
doesn't hesitate to speak her piece and has not made the
best first impression. But that doesn't seem to stop him
from running into her often. Piper knows there is a
definite spark when Hale is nearby, but there is no way a
Walsh could even try to call a lawman friend much less
anything more.
Well like all magnets BEAUTIFUL LAWMAN, which is a Devil's
Rock novel by Sophie Jordan, clearly illustrates the
invisible tug of your heart when you find that special
someone. And even more special when they are not at all
what you were looking for, if you were even looking for
that special person. Neither Hale nor Piper are looking for
that special person. If we are being honest, it was just the
opposite. Hale liked his freedom. Piper had a deep secret
that prevented her from being a candidate for love.
But Sophie Jordan knew better. So she created these two
fabulous characters. BEAUTIFUL LAWMAN has some of the
steamiest scenes ever and it also resonates with some truly
endearing moments.
From the wrong side of the tracks and with most of her
family in jail or dead, Piper Walsh is used to everyone in
town thinking the worst about her. It doesn’t seem to matter
that she’s worked hard to build a good life for herself. So
she isn’t surprised that when she comes into contact with
Sweet Hill’s wildly irresistible, arrogant sheriff, Hale
Walters, they’re instant adversaries. Piper has nothing in
common with the town golden-boy-turned-lawman—and she
refuses to be a notch on his bedpost.
Despite rumors, Hale avoids fooling around with the women of
Sweet Hill, many of whom are hoping to get him to the altar.
But staying out of Piper’s path is proving near impossible.
The infuriating troublemaker clearly has no respect for his
badge. As she continues to push his buttons, it becomes
clear to Hale that he must either arrest Piper—or claim her
as his own.
