I completely understand Colbie's instinct to run away to avoid writer's block. I did it myself a few times when completing my PhD and it was always great to clear your brain. My writer's retreats never came with a side of true love, however, so Colbie wins on this one.
I adore Jill Shalvis's books - and to pretend otherwise would be silly. It took me a little bit to get into the Heartbreaker Bay series, but now I'm completely invested in this sprawling tribe of folks and their happily ever afters.
Not only is CHASING CHRISTMAS EVE a great addition to the series, but it is an absolutely delightful Christmas tale. Go read and enjoy.
(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)
Meet cute...
Run for the hillsβtemporarily. Thatβs Colbie
Albrightβs plan when she flees New York for San Francisco.
Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling
YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short,
Colbieβs so over it that sheβs under it. Sheβs also under
the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an
hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out
has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But
sheβs pretty sure Spencer Baldwin wonβt be a stranger for long.
Make merry...
Spenceβs commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of
Relationships Past means he doesnβt have to worry about the
powerfulβokay, crazy hotβchemistry heβs got with Colbie.
Just because she can laugh at anything, especially
herself... just because sheβs gorgeous and a great
listenerβ¦just because she βgetsβ Spence immediately doesnβt
mean he wonβt be able to let Colbie go. Does it?
β¦and hope for a miracle.
Now the clockβs ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to
cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out
how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.
