Charlotte Finch who goes by the name Charlie Moreaux knows betrayal of the worst kind. A cop who was set up by dirty cops knows there is a lot of gray in the world. But the last thing she expects is for Irish Mafia Don Aiden O'Malley to come along and offer her sweet revenge. There is a catch she has to pretend to be his fiancรฉe to get close enough to their mutual enemies. She just never expects that her cop heart would fall for the bad guy with an UNDERCOVER ATTRACTION that cannot and won't be denied.
Aiden O'Malley knows what he is and knows he will never change but he also knows that the blonde haired former cop is the answer to his prayers. With her help, he can get rid of his enemy and help her get revenge against another who has designs on his little sister.
UNDERCOVER ATTRACTION is an amazing read. The formula for this story is unique in the mafia genre. It does deal with organized crime families of Irish and Russian descent and a couple of women more dangerous and deadly than the men they compete with. Add in cops, ex-cops and a romance that isn't supposed to happen and you have UNDERCOVER ATTRACTION.
Charlie's life had always been the law, her father is a hot shot agent, who didn't disown her when she was labeled dirty but didn't exactly stand by her side in those days. She hit bottom and Aiden gave her a reason to climb out ... she didn't believe in the good guys anymore but she did want revenge. I like her, she has grit, a good mind and when push comes to shove she certainly knows how to shove back and that, of course, include Aiden.
Aiden is a bit of a mystery, even after reading this book. He has done wrong, made mistakes that have threatened family members but he is also trying to protect them. There is a rift between his sisters and him that the readers get to see mend just a bit as the pages turn, but you also realize that the last thing he expects is to fall in love with any woman, let alone Charlie. There are many expected and totally unexpected twists and turns and the Eldridge women gave me shivers just reading about them. The romance between Aiden and Charlie could also be called gritty as neither was willing or at best ready to admit that the sexual tension they felt had a deeper meaning until it is almost too late.
I have to admit that although this is the first of author Katee Robert's The O'Malley's I have had the opportunity to read, I will be looking for the others, because UNDERCOVER ATTRACTION was so addictive I want another fix of this author's writing skill. This is going in my read again shelf.
