Naomi Cardiff never feared the water but a casual outing with her girlfriend changes everything. She only wanted to take pictures of the seals in the area but the seals have drawn the attention of sharks as well and a fun outing soon turns into a fight for her life. The uproar over the attack on Naomi is quickly politicized. Subsequently, a scientific expedition is launched to lure the seals away from the coastline and Naomi uses her family connections to barge in on the expedition. Naomi is determined to face her fears -- but no one on the expedition planned to face the sharks in the midst of a Nor'easter.
Wow! I love action tales where the very survival of the characters is at stake, and oh boy is this ever the case in SHARK ISLAND. Chris Jameson puts his characters in the most precarious of positions even as he highlights the dangers that can occur when man meddles with nature. I like that Chris Jameson introduced us to characters on each side of the issue, as it gave us a chance to see that the issues underlying the experiment weren't as straightforward as simply moving seals from one location to another.
However, the sharks are the true heart and soul of SHARK ISLAND. Their relentless attacks on anyone and everyone had me questioning if anyone would survive the expedition. I've been a fan of shark movies ever since the release of the first JAWS movie and SHARK ISLAND captured that fear perfectly.
SHARK ISLAND is the first book written by Chris Jameson and I had trouble putting it down even for a single moment. The action never stops as the author plunges you headlong into Naomi's first attack and then leads you straight into the dangerous expedition she embarks on. If you love tales of survival, then SHARK ISLAND is just what you are looking for this summer.
A shark attack survivor believes she has already
lived through her worst nightmare. She's dead wrong. . .
Naomi Cardiff is not one to give up without a
fight―and
now, after learning about a series of shark attacks in
Cape Cod, sheβs joined a team of scientists to put a stop
to the terror. The plan: to lure the sharks to a remote
island far from the populated coastline. Meanwhile, a
fierce NorβEaster is underway. . .
In the midst of the storm, an alarming number of Great
Whites have come to slaughter the seals in a vicious
feeding frenzy. When sharks ram and breach the hull,
Naomi and her team must jump ship and swim desperately
through a sea of circling fins and gaping jaws to the
tiny island. But as the swells from the storm begin to
swallow their rocky refuge, how will they manage to make
it out alive?
