LOST (Last Options Search Team) is an agency that does exactly what it it sounds like -- it searches for missing children and and people. Ana Young knows firsthand what it is like to be abducted and tortured but she and her twin survived now they are agents for LOST. She has no way of knowing that her next case might just leave her more WRECKED than the kidnapping had.
F.B.I. Agent Cash Knox knows all about Ana, more than even she could imagine. His by-the-book persona flies out the window when it comes to her. The former bounty hunter might be small but she can take care of herself. So why does he feel the need to protect his new partner, even from his own past.
I have no idea how to begin this review. I read WRECKED in one sitting, I couldn't put it down and now I feel as if I have been run through an emotional and somehow physical wringer. How so many secrets, so many surprises fit into 376 pages amazes me. If you have read author Cynthia Eden's LOST series you have some idea of what I am trying to say, if not, you have got to go out and get them all!
We met Ana before and her story in itself is one that will have you admiring the woman for all she has accomplished and you will also want to yell at Cash for his part in hurting her. Even if his reasoning is understandable and along the line she forgives him, mostly because she decides that to not go with her heart lets the bad guys win, but, as a romance reader you still get angry for her sake. Cash, too, had a dicey family history but was determined to be a good person and accomplished that but Ana is his biggest weakness that leads to his making mistakes. The romance is sweet and steamy as well as heartbreaking until it is worked out and they both acknowledge that they are not the monsters. The real monsters are out there killing people and need to be stopped.
The mystery is a deep one that will, I believe, surprise many readers with who the monsters really are. In a strange way, you will probably feel a little sympathetic toward the "bad" guys. The depth of the mystery and psychological play in this book isn't overdone but you feel the urgency that Ana and Cash feel as they search for answers.
Throughout WRECKED we get a look again at the members of LOST and delve deeper into Sarah Jacobs, part of the agency, as she works for the lost and searches for answers to her own past.
WRECKED will leave you breathless, furious, happy, frightened, elated and wanting to get your hands on more!
