The chemistry between Jill and Hayden is off the charts, but the past needs to be put to rest if they plan a future together. The one-time town bad boy is now a former SEAL turned town sheriff and the moment he sees Jillian West again he knows things are not over for either of them.
Years ago Jill had been the victim of an ABDUCTION but luckily Hayden Black, the town bad boy was able to rescue her, but another girl, Christy Anderson was not so lucky. For years Jill had survivor's guilt and it led to her work in the FBI CARD (Children's Abduction Rapid Deployment) unit. Even on vacation she can't seem to not work. While back in her hometown she plans to look into the cold case of her friend Christy and see if she can, with her background, find a lead. She doesn't expect Hayden to be there and certainly not as the sheriff. He was someone who broke her young heart and now someone she will have to work closely with, if they plan to close this cold case, and save another abducted young woman.
Hayden might have rescued Jill all those years ago, but he never felt good enough for her so he became a SEAL, trying to prove himself. Now that Jill is home, he has only two things in mind: protect the woman he has always loved and get her to love him again.
ABDUCTION is a fast-paced, thriller with the perfect amount of romance thrown into the mix. I usually get a vibe about a couple when reading a book, but in this one, though the chemistry was off the charts, I had trouble imagining them together as a forever couple. After getting further into the book my initial reservations eased and I wanted them to get their HEA and find the bad guy, especially after realizing that neither of them had overcome their feelings for one another. Jill is a survivor, who became an agent so she could save others, especially children but she had left her heart in the town called Hope. Hayden became a SEAL but not for the adventure as he told Jill back in the day, in truth, he had to let her go so she could do what she had to do in life and not be held back by him.
When I am reading a mystery such as ABDUCTION I find myself playing the detective (cop, sheriff, agent, etc.) and try to figure out the bad guy and in this one I failed. The real bad guy was a very interesting twist to the plot and he was on my shortlist but not number 1. Ms. Eden certainly knows how to lead her readers down one trail only to twist them back up another, all the while giving her characters hits of real life and love. If you want an intriguing mystery, with a sweet second chance romance, with just the right amount of twists and turns to throw you off (or lead you to the right finale) the ABDUCTION is just what you need.
Once the town
troublemaker, Sheriff Hayden Black became the teen hero who
saved young Jillian West from a savage kidnapper. He never
got over their brief affair. Now the ex-SEAL and the
burned-out FBI agent have reunited in their Florida hometown
and rediscovered their powerful attraction. But as they hunt
down a long-forgotten killer, will they get a second chance
at happiness? When a series of accidents begins to plague
Jill, Hayden won't let her fall victim again. There's too
much history between themโฆand too much desire.
