ROCK HARD is book two in Olivia Cunning's Sinners on Tour rock star romance series. ROCK HARD works as a stand- alone novel, since Olivia Cunning gives a glimpse into Jessica and Sed's past at the beginning of the book, as well as giving the reader a flavor of their relationship dynamic throughout ROCK HARD. This is a great book for readers who enjoy the second-chance-romance theme. Rock star and lead singer Sed Lionheart and Jessica Chase split up years ago, not out of a lack of passion, but because of a failure to communicate and also because their lives were pulling them in two different directions. Olivia Cunning does a wonderful job of detailing how sometimes love just isn't enough to keep two people together, and the work that goes into making a successful relationship.

As far as Sed's friends know, Jessica was the hard- hearted woman who destroyed Sed when she suddenly left him. The reality is a little more complicated. Sed and Jessica create a lot of the obstacles standing in the way of their happiness together, but the deep love they have for each other underneath it all comes through in ROCK HARD. The journey Sed and Jessica take to get back together is both exasperating as they work through their issues and highly erotic and sinfully fabulous. Having the story told from alternating perspectives helps readers empathize with Sed and understand how much Jessica means to him. Olivia Cunning masters the art of combining erotica that holds a readers interest with characters who matter. I like the way Jessica reacts and responds to the sexism she faces, from multiple sources, in ROCK HARD.

ROCK HARD has all of the exquisite longing you want in a second-chance-romance with sexy scenes that set the pages on fire. Olivia Cunning does a great job of expanding on the issues that make Sed and Jessica clash in the novella PATIENCE in the Sinners on Tour wedding-themed anthology. I've read a lot of rock star-themed romances, but there's something extraordinary about this Sinners on Tour series by Olivia Cunning that captures my imagination. Each relationship in this series, both romantic and friendship, has multiple layers that are fascinating to peel back. I am now an Olivia Cunning addict and can't wait for her next book to drop!
