Alex Trevino and his spotter Remy Boudreaux are on a SWAT
lookout: they're hoping to capture the elusive drug dealers
who have been wreaking havoc in Dallas. There is a new
highly addictive, heroin-based drug on the market: eight
people have died, and twenty more are in hospital. The
morning after, Alex has an appointment to the vet's for his
dog Tuffie. The regular vet is absent, he will have to deal
with Dr. Lacey Barton, with whom Alex is instantly smitten.
Lacey is lovely, sweet, and they bond over their common love
of dogs. Alex has been a werewolf for barely a few years,
and according to the legend, he wonders if Lacey could be
"The One", his life mate.
However, the good doctor is not easily convinced they should
even date at all. Lacey lives with her younger sister
Kelsey, a student at Texas Regional College, and when they
learn that a female from the same university has gone
missing, Lacey starts to worry even more; Lacey is very
protective of her
sister, and this is not making things easier for her. Lacey
has finally agreed to date Alex: he does not seem like the
sort of animal her mother used to go out with, until Lacey
sees just what sort of animal Alex really is!
Paige Tyler sure knows how to grab your attention! While the
seeds of suspense are sown right at the beginning, WOLF
UNLEASHED seemed to be heading more towards a warm and fuzzy
romance. Lacey is recalcitrant to date at all, even the
irresistible and charming Alex; their new relationship seems
to be going smoothly until Lacey sees Alex's wolf. And
there, my friends, is where you will have to hold on to your
book -- or your e-reader -- for dear life, because WOLF
UNLEASHED just might be Paige Tyler's best effort yet! What
at first appear to be unconnected and rather horrifying
subplots all tie in to shape a spellbinding suspense, and
the story picks up speed as it goes along.
Alex is not a very adept werewolf until circumstances force
his wolf to act, and boy, are those mind-blowing scenes!
Remy Boudreaux, the suave Louisiana SWAT member is a welcome
relief with his clever banter, because WOLF UNLEASHED is a
seriously intense book. I found remarkable how Ms. Tyler
created palpable types of atmospheres throughout the book:
alternatively unsettling and cozy, juxtaposed with terror
and warmth. There's also a very creepy bad guy, and the
moment when Lacey realizes Alex's true nature is
heartbreaking, scary, and very realistically handled. WOLF
UNLEASHED is a fantastic addition to the SWAT series that
keeps getting better and better!
Lacey Barton can't deny her crazy attraction to Alex
Trevino, but that doesn't mean she has time for the gorgeous
SWAT officer. She's hell-bent on discovering who's behind
the brutal dogfights sending countless mauled animals to her
veterinarian office. The trail leads Lacey to a ring of
vicious drug dealers and suddenly she's in way over her
head-right smack in the middle of a SWAT stakeout.
With Lacey in danger, Alex's wolf side is unleashed. But
when she witnesses Alex shift, she's even more terrified...
Now it's up to Alex to crack the case-and earn back Lacey's
trust and, ultimately, her heart.
