Josephine was not your average mother figure. She had
several secrets that she kept from her three children,
Keith, Massie, and Roxie.
Her son Keith always was the black sheep of the family. His
drug addiction stole many years of his life, but even after
he got clean he still struggled to find his place. His
sister Massie sought love and finally found the man of her
dreams.
Then there is Roxie, the daughter that everyone thought was
dead. Come
to find out that she had been kidnapped when she was
around seven. Josephine, believing the worst of her son had
always thought that Keith
had pushed Roxie off a cliff.
Now Josephine is found dead in her bathtub. The police
believe that it was suicide. Despite not speaking to his
mother for years doesn't believe that
she would kill herself. Keith comes back to his hometown to
settle her estate, and Still not believing that she
is dead, Keith sets out to find the truth.
Nancy, who runs the floral shop for Josephine, is not
excited to see Keith after five years. Nancy was the
only that stood by Keith while he was going through his
addictions. Nancy is in love with Keith but she knows
that he will never feel the same about her. Keith feels
incredibly guilty for the way he treated Nancy years ago,
and he would like nothing
better to make amends with her. But Nancy just doesn't
know if she should forgive him or not.
While Keith is trying to find out what really happened to
his mother, many secrets start to come out. Some as far
back to Keith's childhood. What does Hugh,
his mother's lover have to do with all this?
Once again Brenda Novak wrote a great book. This book
is a continuation to the book THE SECRET SISTER. You don't
have to read that book to read this book. A lot of the
story comes into this book, so you don't get confused.
Brenda knows how to hook anyone.
Whether Brenda is writing her series such as Whiskey
Creek, or a stand alone, you can't go wrong in picking up
one of her books.
I also love how Brenda describes the scenery of this
little town. I would love to live in a town like this.
Everyone knows each other but they don't gossip too much
about the people. This book kept me guessing as to
what really happened to Josephine. Will Keith and Nancy
finally get what they both want? Will Roxie and Massie
also get their happy ending? Get this book, take some
time for yourself and just enjoy.
Exciting, emotional, intense. The thrilling follow-up to
New York Times bestselling author
Brenda Novak's highly acclaimed The Secret Sister. The
things that happen in families are always surprising and
sometimes shocking!
The rich and powerful Josephine Lazarow, matriarch of
Fairham Island, is dead. The police say it's suicide, but
Keith, her estranged son, doesn't believe it.
Keith bears scars—both physical and emotional—from his
childhood, but he's worked hard to overcome the past. After
walking away from his mother and her controlling ways five
years ago, he's built a new life in LA. He's also
accumulated a fortune of his own. But as soon as he learns
of his mother's death, he returns to Fairham. He feels he
owes it to his grandfather to put the family empire together
again—and he's determined to find his mother's killer.
Problem is…coming home to Fairham puts him back in contact
with Nancy Dellinger, the woman he hurt so badly when he
left before. And digging that deep into his mother's final
days and hours entails a very real risk.
Because the person who killed her could be someone he loves…
