Jordie Bennet finds herself in a disreputable bar waiting for a mysterious caller in hopes of finding out where her brother is and what happened to his being safely hidden away by the Feds. Finding herself hit on by a drunk and deciding this was a horrible mistake, she tries to leave. That's when the world explodes around her and she thinks she has fallen into a world class STING.
Shaw Kinnard's orders are to kill Jordie but he has other plans. Jordie's brother had absconded with $30 million dollars and who wouldn't want to get their hands on that? Now if he can just get the abducted Jordie to tell him where the brother is and if she knows where the money is. Before they know it they have no choice but to rely on each other even when truths become lies and lies become truths and only together will they survive.
I know others have said they couldn't put a book down but ... oh-my could I not put STING down. Just when you think you know Shaw and Jordie and who the good guys and bad guys are author Sandra Brown throws you a curve. If you love playing detective as I do, you will find you just can't do it, when you think you have a handle on what is happening, there is a twist and you are going down another road. When I had finished it I just stared at the last page and wondered how the amazing finale got there. I admit I haven't read many of Ms. Brown's books but if they are like this one I can't wait to get my hands on more. STING is well written, easy to follow (even when you are flummoxed with what is happening next) with characters that seem realistic and on the most part likable. I actually liked Shaw from the beginning but who likes a hitman and Jordie I thought had a painful past that would sooner or later come out allowing us to feel for her. If you want danger, mystery, romance with a good bit of steam and more surprises than seems possible then STING is the book you need in your hands.
