ROCK WEDDING is the final book in Nalini Singh's Rock Kiss series. Love, love, love this book! Even though characters from past books show up in ROCK WEDDING, and there are weddings for many of them in this story, I truly believe a reader new to Nalini Singh's Rock Kiss will still be able to enjoy this book. Rock star Abe Bellamy and his ex-wife Sarah have a long and complicated history, but Nalini Singh divides the book into five sections and successfully manages to cover the bulk of their relationship from the time that things started to go wrong for them, their recent past, and to their new hopeful reality. This is a book about second chances and an enduring love.

I don't normally read many romances with addicts as main characters, but Nalini Singh has a skilled way of telling Abe's story without glossing over his flaws, but relishing in his triumphs. It's a brilliant move to divide ROCK WEDDING into different sections and allow for the passing of time between each section. As a result, nothing feels rushed and the reader doesn't feel short- changed. Having the story told from alternating perspectives is important because there are so many big events that happen in ROCK WEDDING that you need to hear what's going on in the mind of the two main characters.

Nalini Singh spares nothing when chronicling Abe and Sarah's life together and lives apart. The intense moments of both despair and joy took my breath away. The early chapters focusing on Sarah's point of view really grab hold of you and make you invested in her story. After getting both perspectives, you see how drugs and a lack of communication kept Abe and Sarah apart for years -- both physically and emotionally in some ways. As the couple makes contact again, Nalini Singh packs quite a few scintillating scenes in ROCK WEDDING, but for me the best and most compelling scenes are the beautiful moments of emotional intimacy as Abe and Sarah slowly learn to communicate and respond to each other again. I love that Abe gives Sarah the space she needs, even as he woos her and that he takes responsibility for things he said and did while under the influence. His ability to take accountability and the sweet way he treats Sarah in this second time around make him a great complex character. I also love how Sarah comes into her own and works through her feelings, and makes new friends.

ROCK WEDDING is a practically perfect tale about two imperfect people and their enduring love. As with past books in this series, the friendships between bandmates and the women who love them add another special quality to this story and another level of enjoyment. I loved seeing Abe's bandmates support him and his sobriety. The epilogue puts a wonderful cap on the story and this series. I look forward to reading more books by Nalini Singh in the future.

SUMMARY

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh continues her Rock Kiss series with a hot, sweet, emotional contemporary romance about love and forgiveness…

After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she’d finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn’t love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.

Abe knows he’s to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life – the sexy, smart woman he adores – breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love...even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it.

But can he convince Sarah – now strong and independent without him – to risk her wounded heart one more time?
