Reed Hudson was fairly certain he didn't love anyone and had never fallen in love. He was too controlled and firmly convinced himself he was too smart to ever fall into that trap. His career was centered on working with couples that had fallen into that love and marriage trap. Snared by their ideas of love and promises. As a successful, hardened, respected and most sought out divorce lawyer Reed knew of what he spoke. He was never ever going to put himself through what his couples did, each and every one of them.

Best intentions and reality hit Reed right between the eyes and if he were truly honest with himself straight to his safely walled in heart. But Reed never saw it coming.

When Reed's sister is suddenly killed in an accident he gets a surprise visit from Lilah, his sister's friend. Lilah is there to carry out Spring's last wishes which were for Reed to care for her baby daughter Rosie.

Reed has perhaps the most eclectic, dare I say, messed up family. His father has repeatedly married, seemingly a big proponent of marriage although not so much in terms of longevity. Reed's dad had lots of wives and children. So Reed winds up with a whole slew of siblings and half siblings and as the oldest brother - well you get the picture. The entire Hudson clan has Reed on speed dial for whenever they are in trouble and Lilah quickly learns that happens a lot.

The original plan is for Lilah to stay until Reed readies himself and organizes his life to include taking care of Rosie. Reed immediately reaches out to find a good nanny and a more appropriate place to raise this child. And Reed instinctively know that Lilah can make this happen. Lilah isn't going to return home until she is convinced that taking care of Rosie includes loving. And that's going to be a challenge.

Maureen Child deliciously pits this hardened attorney with a warmhearted soul and you are going to love this battle. THE BABY INHERITANCE is vintage Maureen Child. Family dramas abound. Love is ever present even among those that deny its existence. THE BABY INHERITANCE is entertainment at its best. Lighthearted and joyous story that will engage your interest as well as your heart.
