Trying to protect your heart from bruising or breaking is
a noble quest but most likely in life that precious organ
is going to get abused. It's just a fact of life. In
TOUGH LUCK HERO we have two people who have pretty much
thought out what they perceive as the perfect way to
shield their hearts. Of course Maisey Yates provides a
great window into the fallibility of their scheme. And
that's what makes TOUGH LUCK HERO -- the sixth book in the
Copper Ridge: The Wests series -- really fun. Oh how the
mighty fall. By the title you might get that Colton West and Lydia
Carpenter have been on the receiving end of some rather
tough luck. Colton's family had quite a curve thrown at
it when the patriarch of the family had some of his dirty
laundry aired. Here was a man who prided himself on his
appearance and standing in the community. It didn't sit
well with Colton and his siblings when they met the man
who claimed to be their brother. Needless to say this
kind of news could easily splinter a family and that's
what Colton was determined to prevent. His mother was
already fragile, one brother had flown the coop and his
two sisters were floundering. When faced with this family
dynamic Colton felt he had no choice but to step in and
manage the family business as well as the family. He
became the go to person. He accepted that responsibility
even at the expense of his own happiness. That's how he
got into his present predicament. Left at the altar by
the woman he felt was safe and would look good on his
arm. A non-combative partner in an already crazy life. Be careful what you wish for. So who does Colton meet at the bar after his bride to be
is a no show. None other than her bridesmaid Lydia -- the
one woman who had his back up since they were introduced.
After imbibing in one drink too many Colton and Lydia
wake up in Las Vegas. Well you can probably guess the
rest. Now the newlyweds have to come back to Copper Ridge and
face the music. Lydia is running for mayor. This
impulsive marriage doesn't bode well for her. Colton is
also worried about upsetting the already shaky apple cart
with his family. So they work out a perfect solution.
Pretend this quickie wedding was destined because of
their unrequited mutual attraction. Who do they think they are fooling? What starts out
pretty admirably ultimately winds up as a mutual fight
against the inevitable. Colton realizes that he is
attracted to this woman who drives him crazy with her
drive to control everything and everyone. Lydia can't get
over the fact that this hunk keeps coming on to her --
this stubborn guy who doesn't know the meaning of no or
can't. It would seem they have met their match. So the
burning question is will the flame of this attraction
burn itself out or will it spark something really good in
a couple that seem rather doomed. Are you ready for some great bedroom antics? Well TOUGH
LUCK HERO puts the squeeze on two of the most polar
opposite characters -- or are they? TOUGH LUCK HERO is
about finding who you really are -- on the inside. Maisey
Yates created two characters that need and deserve a
little luck and love in their lives. We are talking about
the deep down love.
