New York's Hudson Valley houses a quaint little town called
Mundy's Landing. It is one of those towns that outsiders
looking in believe to be the perfect place to raise a family
while insiders only want to leave and never return.
This town may be ideal for many residents but it is also
home to a century old murder mystery that was never solved.
Mundy's Landing even celebrates this fact with a special
museum exhibit along with a festival held annually on the
anniversary of the murders.
Rowan and Jake Mundy returned to Mundy's Landing confident
that it was the right thing to do for their family. One step
away from being empty nesters, they have two kids away at
college and one teenage son still at home. Rowan teaches at
the local school and Jake is part of the founding family of
the town so they are both pretty immersed in the town and
everything about it.
However, it seems that they may not be as safe as they
think. There is a murderer killing his way to and through
Mundy's Landing. They are all attractive women with red hair
and they are all killed in a ritualistic fashion. No one
knows who the killer is but the one thing that is certain is
that this murderer is closer than anyone imagines.
As a lifelong fan of Wendy Corsi Staub, I have read
everything she has written and published. Each reading
experience was one to be relished much like digging into
your favorite dessert knowing that it will be perfect until
the very end. Then you are sorry that it is over until the
next time.
BLOOD RED does not fall short in any way. There is plenty of
suspense, creepiness, and overall terror to be enjoyed. As
usual, this writer does the impossible when hiding the
identity of the murderer until she is ready for it to be
revealed, but you will still love the clues that she
scatters throughout the story to give you a bit of a chance
to try to crack the case on your own.
The beginning of BLOOD RED grips you and only tightens its
hold as you are led down a very frightening path. There are
two rules to reading this one. The first is to be sure that
you have plenty of time to devote to reading because you
will not be able to put it down once you start. The other
rule is that you might want to either not read it alone or
at least have plenty of lights on in the house.
As the first installment of a new trilogy, BLOOD RED will
wrap up the main plot but will also include an ongoing
mystery that is not going to be explained just yet. Take
heart, though; you will get more from each successive book.
If you are a fan of Wendy Corsi Staub, BLOOD RED is a must
read. On the other hand, if you are not familiar with her
work; it is a perfect place to start getting acquainted.
From New York Times bestselling author Wendy Corsi
Staub comes the first in a terrifying new series set in a

prelude to his ultimate victim.
