In the last book of the Second Chance series by Jessica Lemmon, the author brings back a local legend. After being out in LA, living the dream of a rock star, Asher Knight returns to his hometown to get his life back in order. Starting with learning how to be a father to his three-year-old kid from a previous relationship.
In the past, Asher had a relationship with Gloria and it ended badly. The events have scarred Gloria and whenever she sees Asher with another woman, she is reminded of their time together and jealously strikes. It's the worst timing when Asher's baby's mother, Jordan enters the picture, complicating matters greatly. Because of the kid's involvement in this story, Jordan naturally had to come along with it. But I found her character to be especially immature and juvenile, which I guess isn't a surprise other than the fact that it really grated on me. I found that I didn't enjoy those moments of the book and it actually took some of my interest away from Asher because of how he handled it. I also felt it stood in the way of developing his relationship with Gloria.
Gloria and Asher start off quite hot but with the obstacles standing in their way and the complicated matters of them, I found that I didn't fall in love with them as much as I thought. There was more drama in this one than the other books and I missed the banter and wit that the others had. That being said, if the entire book was just about the entire group being together, I think I would be happy. Nevertheless, RETURN OF THE BAD BOY has some sweet and steamy moments that readers will no doubt enjoy.
