THE WEDDING DATE is Book 1 in Kelly Eadon's Belmont
Beach series. About a million years ago Kate Massie
took
pity on James Abell and became his junior prom date.
Years later, and a chance meeting and mutual physical
attraction make a second chance at romance seem
inevitable. Unfortunately thinks get incredibly
complicated very fast. At the suggestion of his friend,
Kate winds up agreeing to be James's date for his sister's
upcoming wedding as well as be his instant girlfriend to
get his overbearing mom off his back. I love stories with
a pretend girlfriend plot, so THE WEDDING DATE is my cup
of tea.
Having the story told from two perspectives gives the
reader a clearer picture of James and Kate's feelings.
Both James and Kate are sympathetic characters. James is
a nice guy with a tendency to be taken advantage of at
times, but without being a total pushover. The care he
shows toward his ex girlfriend as she struggles with a
social anxiety disorder, and the special things he does
to make Kate smile, shows what a sweet guy he is.
Although they take hesitant steps toward each other at
first, I love the zing between James and Kate and the
sizzle when they get together.
For good or bad, many of the supporting characters in THE
WEDDING DATE are instigators and spur on some of the
complicated situations James and Kate find themselves in.
That being said, the supporting characters contribute to
my enjoyment of THE WEDDING DATE. It's easy to see why
Kate fell for his family after the warm welcome she got
from them. I also really like the way Kelly Eadon gave
James's mother layers and opted not to make her a
cardboard character. Kate's friends really perk my
interest, and I can't wait to see if they each get their
own book.
THE WEDDING DATE is a sexy-sweet romance to take a chance
on. Kelly Eadon does a fantastic job of creating
characters the reader is dying to know more about. The
family dynamic and friendships really make THE WEDDING
DATE a stronger story and more entertaining. The
epilogue puts a perfect cap on an already delightful
romance. I look forward to reading more about Ryan,
Ainsley, and Beth in future books by Kelly Eadon.
A LITTLE FAKE RELATIONSHIP NEVER HURT ANYONE . . .
Kate Massie has big dreams-they just haven't worked out.
Yet. In the meantime, she spends her days clerking for a
judge and her nights fantasizing about her tall, dark,
and sexy gym crush. So when she runs into him one night,
she's shocked to realize he was her shy, nerdy junior-
prom date. But that isn't where the surprises end . . .
James Abell needs a date to his sister's wedding. So when
Kate agrees, he's relieved . . . until one little lie
turns their wedding date into a full-blown fake
relationship. Only it doesn't feel fake-not the toe-
curling kisses and definitely not the electricity.
Neither of them is looking for something real . . . but
they just might fall for their own little white lie.
