The story strongly asks the reader to suspend disbelief in this
quirky romance instigated by a hospital blunder. The
moment I realized the plot of THE BILLIONAIRES BABY SWAP
by Rebecca Winters I had to go on the internet and do some
research. It was eye opening to say the least. So many
real stories of families ripped apart by the discovery
that the child they brought home from the hospital was
not theirs. Rebecca Winters chose a rather difficult
storyline for the first book in the Montanari Marriages
duet. But in true romantic fashion Winters decided that
the two central characters should be classy, caring and
intelligent souls. Absolutely a necessity if you want a
happy ending.
Things happen for a reason -- possibly naïve but at the
back of my mind perhaps the romantic in my soul can't
help feeling these two were meant to be together. Strange
twist of fate introduced them but two little boys are the
magnet. Their love for these two boys and the undeniable
mutual attraction could be the thing to cement their
partnership -- if given a chance. External forces are
working to drive a chasm between two loving people. Not
fair. Surely love will win in this tug of war with four
people's lives on the line.
Here's the scoop. Two women arrive simultaneously at a
hospital. The births were rapid and for some unknown
reason the two newborn boys were given to the wrong
parents. The parental thing was a bit confusing for these
two babies. Valentina Montanari is an unwed mother. She
names her son Ric. Giovanni Laurito is the father of the
second boy named Vito. Giovanni is divorced from Vito's
mother who wants nothing to do with her child. She wasn't
all that excited about the pregnancy. Their marriage had
already been on shaky ground.
Both boys are bathed in love and care by the people who
took them home. But neither boy looked anything like
their respective parents. And here's where it gets
interesting. DNA testing proved that indeed someone at
the hospital made a terrible mistake.
Perhaps it sounds easy to fix. But parents, especially
good caring parents, start bonding with their children
immediately and for Valentina and Giovanni giving up the
child they had for the past three weeks was torture. In
her heart Ric belonged to Valentina although he was dark
haired and she was blond. In his heart Vito belonged to
Giovanni who passed over the fact that his son was blond
-- thinking it could be from past generations of either
his or his ex-wife's family.
Both Valentina's and Giovanni's lives were driven by
doing what is expected -- the right thing -- appearances so
important. There is no love in the world that can eclipse
that between a child and parent -- it changes people, puts
life and careers in perspective. Centers them. The
hospital was going by the rules which simply stated that
the children be given to their correct family. Case
closed. Well Vito and Ric had other ideas.
Looking for a strange but ultimately feel good story then
THE BILLIONAIRES BABY SWAP by Rebecca Winters fits the
