In her world Cricket is considered a runt, lower than the
lowest of the packs, even though she is a member of the
elite special ops branch of the Lycan Intelligence Agency
(L.I.A.) called Team Greywolf. But lately her job is
babysitting Prince Slade who is suffering a particular
psychosis called "morphogenesis" after the death of his
entire pack.
With no reason to return to his home, Slade accepts the
offer of joining the agency and the two of them are sent on
an investigation. Cricket is with him mostly because he
insists
he needs her calming influence. As he heals he finds she is
his only comfort, but of course she is the only person he
can never have. The laws of their kind forbid the mating of
a runt at all and most certainly not to a prince.
SLADE will have you holding your breath wondering how it
will be possible to have a HEA for this couple. Both
Cricket and Slade are likable, perfect for each other, and
the whole situation is highly entertaining. I can't say I
care much for this world's stupid rules but...author Eva
Gordon does a good job of giving her readers everything
they can possibly want.
SLADE is book 1 of Ms. Gordon's offshoot of her Alpha
Wolf's Pet, taking us back to that world with the
emphasis
on the L.I.A.. One of the best parts of this is we get to
see what has been happening to Dominic and Mia from
Alpha
Wolf's Pet, as well as other characters who return in
this
new offering. SLADE, as her others have done, offers
sweet and steamy romance, action of all kinds, good guys,
bad guys and some you just aren't sure where they stand but
each fits perfectly into this world. I can't wait to get my
hands
on book two!
