The Bayou is not always a friendly place to live and a bar in the middle of it can be very unsafe, especially when a GhostWalker is sitting in wait and not there for fun. Trap Dawkins is waiting for his woman and is tired of playing the little SPIDER GAME she does so well. He knows it's not her fault, it's all Whitney's, but he is there to end the game and take the woman as his own.
Cayenne has lived all her life behind bars as something others feared and studied. Now free of the bars, she has to learn to deal with a world she knows little about. As far as men go, she knows even less, but she does know Trap Dawkins has her feeling things she never expected to feel, and it scares the heck out of her. And a scared spider lady is a deadly lady indeed.
SPIDER GAME is the bewitching continuation of author Christine Feehan's GhostWalker series. I love this particular team with their family like camaraderie. I also have a fascination with the bayou and just love Nonny (Grandma Fontenot) and love reading anything which includes them. Cayenne is a very interesting study of survival, and I was glad to see her self-esteem slowly build with the love of support provided by Trap, Pepper, the team and of course, Nonny. The story of Trap's childhood is heartbreaking when it came to light and will make you realize these two are exactly what the other needs. It is also very neat how they worked together to end a particular nightmare from his childhood. You will have to read SPIDER GAME to find out what happened.
Now, for what I didn't like and it is something I have found lately in a number of books, not just Ms. Feehan's. Jealousy and cruelty, all in the name of love. Trap is suppose to know and understand this women, he is after all a genius, but to go off half-cocked and become angry over nothing, accuse her of things that are untrue, is I'm sorry abuse. And I don't find this at all seductive in a man or what I want to read in my romance books. I won't stop reading, but I hope this trend will not continue and though it did not have any real affect on the storyline it did taint my feelings somewhat. That aside GhostWalker is one of my favorite series by Ms. Feehan, and I do want to read more.
