Kelsey Kyle has worked for a while at the Masquerade Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. She's good, and she knows getting a promotion is only a matter of time. The extra money will help pay for her mother's medical bills. The Romance Lovers Convention, a book convention, is taking place at the hotel, and Kelsey is ecstatic to learn one of her favourite romance authors is attending: Micah Holmes. Better yet, she's assigned as his personal concierge, and best of all, the sparks fly right upon meeting him. Unfortunately, fraternization between employees and the guests is punished with immediate dismissal. Furthermore, Kelsey's boss asks her to get an important guest a one-on-one with an influential client, and if she manages this, that hoped-for promotion is Kelsey's for the taking.
Robin Covington knows how to keep her readers on their toes! HER SECRET LOVER is a bit of a departure from her recent books, in that the protagonists are not tortured characters, nor do they have difficult issues to overcome. HER SECRET LOVER is beautifully written, as is always expected of Ms. Covington, and Micah and Kelsey are two of the loveliest characters I have ever read: they feel genuine, the have a lot in common, the have real conversations, and they share a chemistry that jumps off the page. The flirtation progresses slowly until the heat can almost be felt through your e- reader! Their story touched my heart; it felt as if my two best friends were falling in love. There was one little glitch though, which happens towards the very end; I'm not crazy about how one issue was handled: I thought it was "too much, too late", I also felt one of the principals acted out of character. On the other hand, it was settled very quickly and it didn't drag the book down, and most important, it didn't take anything away from this absolutely gorgeous romance.
