Fresh Fiction Review

An Amish Harvest

Inspirational Amish | Romance

Samuel Bowman is an Amish carpenter. One morning, in a rush and not thinking clearly, he fills up the generator with gas. It was still hot and he should have waited until it cooled down. As a result, it exploded, badly injuring Samuel's face and hands. He may or may not be blind and his mother is smothering him with kindness. He is growing bitter and lazy and his Dad, Isaac, decides to ask Rebecca Miller to come and help out his family with caring for Samuel. AN AMISH HARVEST will have you feeling like you are sitting right there in the room with Samuel and making faces at him when he gives Rebecca a hard time.

AN AMISH HARVEST is the first book in the Amish Bachelor series. Rebecca Miller can be just as stubborn as Samuel and the bantering between the two of them will have you laughing out loud and snorting just like I did. Rebecca is a widow after losing her young husband a few years ago to a heart attack. She really needs the job so she agrees to work for the Bowmans. She didn't give much thought to taking care of Samuel. He needs help and she needs the money. While she is doing her job she realizes how much Samuel looks like her husband, Walter. She wonders if she is going to be able to revisit her memories of him while taking care of Samuel.

I did not want AN AMISH HARVEST to end. The conversations between Rebecca and Samuel were so humorous, and I love how Rebecca does not allow Samuel's bitterness to discourage her from taking care of him. This story is filled with humor, lost love, forgiveness, and second chances. I found myself cheering for Rebecca while she tried to help Samuel heal. Rebecca's humor is hysterical and it feeds off of Samuel's crabbiness. Patricia Davids is going to pull you right in from the very beginning and have you emotionally invested in Samuel and Rebecca. I had a hard time putting this book down because I had to know what was going to happen. AN AMISH HARVEST is a fantastic start to a promising series.

SUMMARY

Nursing His Heart

When Amish carpenter Samuel Bowman is injured in an accident, he fears he'll never see again. He's always provided for his family—and now that it's harvest season, the Bowmans are needed in the fields, not at his bedside. So when a young Amish widow becomes his nurse, Samuel expects Rebecca Miller to make his life easier. But his caregiver is bossy, outspoken and challenges him to move on with his life. Though Samuel's sight is in question, he can plainly see the woman he's come to care for won't let herself love again. Now it's Samuel's turn to heal her heart.
