THE LOST SOUL OF LORD BADEWYN is Book 3 in Mia Marlowe's
Order of M.U.S.E. series. Being new to the series, I am glad that Mia
Marlowe includes a guide at the beginning to explain who some of the main
characters
are, and what the Order of M.U.S.E. is. I love paranormal
historical romances, and this Order of M.U.S.E.
series is extremely imaginative and unique. I love the X-
Men feel of a group of gifted individuals working
together for the good of mankind. In this case, the
purpose of the Order of M.U.S.E. is to protect the Crown
from psychic shenanigans.
I love how complex and sympathetic Lord Samuel Badewyn
and Meg Anthony are. Although they both have
extraordinary talents -- she can leave her body and act as
a "Finder" of people and objects, and he has scrying
visions -- they are starved for love. In THE LOST
SOUL OF LORD BADEWYN, they are forced to flee from
meddlesome relatives. A castle in the wilds of Wales
makes a wonderful gothic setting for love to bloom. The
intimacy and the close spiritual, as well as physical,
connection that they form is beautiful and incredibly
romantic. I like that they accept each other for who they
are without judgement. The poetic words of love that
Samuel says to Meg are swoon-worthy. Samuel is a scholar,
and his integrity and poetic turns of phrase make him a
favorite hero for me. The romance between Meg and Samuel
is both passionate and sweet.
The action and danger presented by Meg's criminally-
minded cousin and uncle, and Samuel's devilish immortal
father add excitement to THE LOST SOUL OF LORD BADEWYN
without distracting from the romance. The chase that
takes Samuel and Meg from the rugged beauty of Wales to
the dingy and dark city streets speeds the story along. I
enjoyed the side story involving the Duke of Camden and
his search for answers and closure regarding his late
wife. After reading THE LOST SOUL OF LORD BADEWYN, I am
anxious to go back and read the previous two books in
this series.
THE LOST SOUL OF LORD BADEWYN is a deeply romantic tale
of otherworldly creatures, magic, and heroes. THE LOST
SOUL OF LORD BADEWYN is a great book for fans of
paranormal historicals who are looking for something
really different and engaging. I love the twist Mia
Marlowe puts on angel mythology. Mia Marlowe does a good
job of wrapping things up at the end and introducing
intriguing possibilities for the future. I look forward
to reading the next Order of M.U.S.E. book by Mia
Marlowe.
He vowed to never fall in love...
Meg Anthony was never raised a lady. Instead, she grew up
amongst grifters who used her unique "finding" ability for
their own selfish purposes. Recently, she's been taken
under
the wing of the Duke of Camden and the Order of M.U.S.E.,
learning not only the fine art of becoming a lady, but how
to use her extraordinary talent to help others.
But Meg's gift is a beacon to unsavory characters who would
possess her.
Charged with her protection, Lord Badewyn knows--too
well--that his wild, Welsh castle is no safe haven for this
lovely, all-too-desirable creature. Part human, part fallen
angel, he is one of the Nephilim. He is a recluse sworn
never to love. As the dangers to Meg grow more threatening,
he cannot help but find himself tempted beyond all
reason...and tested to see if he has both a heart and a
soul.
