The only problem with a Brenda Novak book is that it will end. But
then you sit back and smile just waiting for the next
wondrous story by this very prolific author. A WINTER
WEDDING is the ninth book in the Whiskey Creek series that
gets better with age just like a fine wine. Sorry to wax
poetic but Brenda Novak has been entertaining me for many
years. Whiskey Creek has
introduced a slew of charismatic characters that have
captured our attention and our hearts in each of their
individual tales. Now it is time to get to know Kyle
Houseman better and personally I couldn't wait to get
started.
Before we go any further I must suggest that you get your
hands on any and all of the Whiskey Creek series, including
any novellas. The series is a testament to the talent of
Brenda Novak. Each story stands alone on its own merit.
Each book is ripe with details, wondrous dialog and
memories.
In A WINTER WEDDING we find Kyle Houseman still engaged in
conflict with his ex Noelle. Noelle just doesn't get the
concept of a divorce although she was truly taking
advantage of everything she gained in the judgment. She was
never able to get Kyle to actually love her so this was his
punishment.
Kyle's first love had married his brother. But living in a
small town meant learning how to deal with heartbreak. The
only other choice would be to relocate and leave all your
friends and family behind. Not a choice for Kyle so he
tried -- albeit unsuccessfully -- to move on. Noelle was the
result of that mistake.
Enter Lourdes Bennett whose intention is to rent out a
farmhouse to use as an escape from her hectic life so that
she can work on writing new songs. Truthfully, her career
depends on getting her artistic juices flowing again.
Lourdes is a well-known country western singer and her
arrival in Whiskey Creek is certainly going to capture
attention. Her hopes are that she can blend into
the background of this small town, get to work and create
some real gems, and then move on back to Nashville.
Lourdes couldn't have chosen a better place, or a nicer
landlord for her plan. Except she never bargained for Kyle,
his ex-wife, and Mother Nature. Kind of a triple threat to
her desire to revamp a career that had somehow lost some of
its luster. But being in Whiskey Creek could just be the
catalyst for revamping something much more important -- her
life.
Did I mention I love Brenda Novak? After reading A WINTER
WEDDING and any or all of the Whiskey Creek series,
you will too. This series is infectious in a very good
way. So run out and get A WINTER WEDDING, grab a glass of
your favorite wine, and lose yourself in a most wonderful
story.
Kyle Houseman believes he'll never find anyone he could love as much as Olivia Arnold, who's now married
to his stepbrother. Not only did he lose her, he's been through one divorce and has no desire to go through
another. He's determined to be extra careful about the next woman he gets involved with—which is why he
fights his attraction to the beautiful stranger who rents his farmhouse for the Christmas holiday.
Lourdes Bennett is a country music artist. She's only planning to stay in Whiskey Creek long enough to write
the songs for her next album—the album that's going to put her back on top. Her dreams don't include
settling in a town even smaller than the one she escaped. But as she comes to know Kyle, she begins to
wonder if she'd be making a terrible mistake to leave him behind…
