In BLACK ROSE Mia LeMay has witnessed a murder from her balcony and finds herself the only witness to a serial killer. Now it seems she must put her life in the hands of a man she has never met. A man she only knows by the name of Rogue who will soon arrive and whisk her from the safety of her cocooned world.
No matter what his personal agenda might be, the Rogue's main job is to keep Mia alive. But is he really one of the good guys or even the man she is expecting? Will Rogue keep her alive or get them both killed? In the depth of the Louisiana Bayou anything is possible ... even survival, perhaps even love.
BLACK ROSE is Book One of author Jenna Ryan's new Shadow series, and might I say right now ... wow! Ms. Ms. Ryan has a way of pulling readers into the story, holding their attention with action and drama then leaving them wanting more. Of course, I don't mean the ending is lacking lacking or a cliffhanger. You just simply cannot bear to see it come to an end. The characters are varied and fascinating. Mia is amazing. She is funny, with it, in control, and perfect for the hero. Or is he a hero?
I loved the way this author let us in on some of Ryder's secrets but let other things come out the same time Mia learns them. This is a bit of a gritty storyline and of course there's more than bayou steam rising between this couple and the attraction starts from the beginning. Though Mia does try hard to set the rules for this "non- relationship," Ryder just keeps breaking those rules almost before she can say them. I enjoyed the banter between the two and enjoyed watching them fall in love despite themselves. I know if you pick BLACK ROSE up you will not be able to put it down. I have this on my TRA (to read again) shelf and can't wait to get my hands on more of this series.
Voodoo is a shadowy business. So is murder.
