KISSING VICIOUS is Book 1 in Brooklyn Ann's Hearts of Metal rocker-themed romance series. KISSING VICIOUS will appeal to fans who like a sexy rock star hero and a sassy, strong heroine. Having the story told from both perspectives adds a lot of depth to the main characters.
What sets KISSING VICIOUS apart from other rocker-themed romances is the heroine. Kinley has more in common with her rock star hottie than other women in similarly themed books. Kinley can relate to lead singer and guitarist Quinn Mayne because she loves the same kind of music and can play it as well. Having something so close to their hearts in common makes their eventual romance more believable. I like Kinley's toughness and that she is physically very capable of defending herself. Brooklyn Ann doesn't shy away from writing about the dangers that women can face while being a roadie, as well as the gender bias.
Quinn Mayne is yummy and everything you want in a guitar hero -- sexy, driven, but also incredibly caring and sweet when it comes to the heroine. He's definitely swoon- worthy. I understand why Kinley opts to keep her romantic relationship with Quinn secret, but I love how Quinn wants to shout his feelings on the rooftops. I like that he respects Kinley and admires her talent and perseverance, rather than only being attracted to her physically. The chemistry between Quinn and Kinley make for some very passionate and explosive love scenes.
KISSING VICIOUS is a sensual, rockin' romance with a hero to die for. Brooklyn Ann does a good job of describing the good, the bad, and the ugly in the music industry. The flawed characters and sense of community between the Vicious band members, as well as between other bands, adds an interesting layer to the romance. The danger presented to Kinley by a rival roadie is compelling without drawing focus away from the romance. I look forward to the next Hearts of Metal romance by Brooklyn Ann.
When Kinley Black becomes a roadie for Viciöus, beginning a foray into the unglamorous, male-dominated world of heavy metal, she won't escape with her pride or heart intact.
It's hard to be one of the guys…
Ever since Kinley Black's metal band broke up, bringing her back to only being a co-owner of a metal fan site, she's been dying to get back into the music industry. The opportunity arrives when her interview with Quinn Mayne, lead singer of her favorite band, Viciöus, goes off the rails. If she can beat up a pervy roadie, she can have his job. Kinley has no problem with hard work or being one of the guys. But fighting her attraction to Quinn is a bigger challenge.
When he makes her feel like such a girl
Quinn is furious with his road manager for insisting they hire Kinley. Taking a beautiful woman on the road was like dangling meat above a pack of feral hounds. Despite his reluctance, he can't help being impressed by his new roadie's strength and determination any more than he can suppress his urge to protect her when a crewmember's hostility escalates. As Viciöus's tour across the country progresses, Quinn's fury and frustration fall away, only to be replaced with a burning desire, with the promise of something deeper.
