Three young girls are missing. Homicide detective Eden Archer's investigation leads to a remote Australian "rehab" farm run by an ex-con. Eden plans to go undercover at the farm to search for more evidence, and she needs her partner, detective Frank Bennett, to be sober and alert for backup protection. That's hard for him to do, since he's not dealing well with the terrible way their last case ended. However, Frank knows he has to keep an eye on Eden for more reasons than her own protection.
You see, Eden is a serial killer who gets rid of serial killers, while also working as a homicide detective. Reared by devious crime boss Hades, Eden's brand of justice may be unconventional, and unlawful, but she prides herself on doing excellent work at both her "jobs." And Frank's responsibility involves so much more than a regular partner.
Candice Fox's riveting EDEN is a powerful follow-up to her debut thriller, HADES. Cleverly written using detailed flashbacks of Hades early life, the intricate plot and Australian setting makes for a compelling psychological thriller. Interaction of the complex cast of characters in EDEN, (second in the Archer & Bennett thriller series) kept me thoroughly engrossed right up to the stunning cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Fox has in store next for these uniquely uncommon characters.
