Miss Margaret Mayfield has spent her entire life calmly doing
everything her parents have told her to do, taking their views
and beliefs as truth. Margaret is the perfect biddable
daughter, and now she is engaged to the perfect Philip
Manningham, chosen by her parents. Warned to avoid Sir
Justin Keighley at a neighbourhood function because he is
viewed to be a radical reprobate, Margaret lets her parents
fears become her own. When she finds herself alone with
Sir Justin, her hysterical reaction will change her life
forever. Standing up to her parents for the first time,
Margaret flees into the night. But what started off as an
independent adventure soon becomes so much more, and Margaret
finds herself questioning her life, society and class, and the
feelings that are emerging for a certain infuriating
gentleman.
Sir Justin Keighley is following in his family's unusual
position in society, and trying to help the less fortunate
classes that have been ignored for so long, earning himself
the reputation of a radical. So the last thing he is willing
to do is get shackled into marriage to a sheltered, simpering
Miss who is terrified by his very presence. But somehow he
finds himself in the role of protector and vows to return her
to her parents. Justin never counted on being shot, nursed
back to health, and strangely fascinated by the very lady he
wanted to avoid. As they both struggle with their emotions, a
surprise arrival leads to harsh words being spoken. So the
question is, can two opposites attract and find a spark that
will last a lifetime?
A RADICAL ARRANGEMENT by Jane Ashford is an emotional,
thought-provoking romance that will easily entertain you.
Margaret is unprepared for the harsh reality of life and it
was great to be a part of her journey of self-empowerment and
discovery. Although sometimes frustrating, I grew to really
care about Margaret. Sir Justin is knowledgeable and caring,
but spends much of his time frustrated with Margaret. It was
interesting to watch their relationship evolve and change over
their forced confinement. Unusual for a Regency romance, Jane
Ashford shows a glimpse of the working classes and the
hardships they endured, which adds to the plot and reality of
the novel. A RADICAL ARRANGEMENT by Jane Ashford is a well-rounded novel
and refreshingly different.
Brash and Handsome Sir Justin Keighley is all wrong for a proper young lady like Margaret Mayfield. Everyone knows he is shocking in his opinions, arrogant in his manner, and completely without respect for the common decencies of civilized society. Margaret absolutely will not marry him-no matter what her parents say. Beautiful and Shy Margaret was everything Sir Justin detested in a woman-timid, sheltered, and obedient to a fault. It's not until she runs away from him that he finds he must give chase. Margaret is discovering she can be bold and rebellious-intrepid enough to do what she must, and more exciting than Justin ever imagined possible. She's the last woman he would have expected to lead them both into uncharted territory...
