Lexie Dare should be ecstatic. She has finally invented
a sought after intelligence program that governments are
salivating over. Instead she is on a mission to stay alive -- at work and at home.
Somehow she has wound up with an abusive fiancé and he isn't the only danger
she faces.
Parker Black is the brains behind Titan Group, an elite
security firm. In his world, everything is ordered and
controlled. That is, everything but his feelings for his
buddy's girl. Something in her eyes screams for help but he
has no idea why? When she disappears, he knows he should
have acted. The lines between friendships and work become
blurred as they must find each other and work to survive a
terrorist plot. One that only Lexi can unravel.
BLACK DAWN is edgy, steamy, action-packed and different.
Usually when one reads a romance, even a suspense/romance
you have: girl meets boy, they fall for each other, they
fight the bad guys and live happily ever after. Well,
BLACK DAWN is a bit different. In this one, the girl
meets boy; he turns out to be a jerk; then she meets another guy
who turns out to be a very good guy and the jerk's friend; they
fight the bad guys including the first jerk; and live
happily ever after. Lexie is a genius when it comes to
computers and programs, but she has a number of secrets from
her past and she fears letting others in. Parker is
blindsided by his feelings for Lexie and it takes a bit for
him to get his act together, when it is almost too late.
The action is non-stop; the characters believable in
attitude and dialogue, and Lexie and Parker are made for
each other with very similar backgrounds. I have to admit
that this is the first of author Cristin Harber's Titan
books I have had the chance to read, but BLACK DAWN is going
on my TRA shelf and I will be looking for the others.
What happens when nothing is as it seems? After inventing a sought-after intelligence program that foreign governments are salivating over, Lexi Dare is on a one-woman mission to stay alive. Both at home and at work. Because how did she end up with a ring on her finger and an abuser in bed as she readies to hit the high point in her career? Everything should be perfect. Amazing job. Handsome fiancé. It's all a disaster. Parker Black is the brains behind Titan Group, an elite security firm. In his world, everything is ordered and controlled, except what he feels for his buddy's girl. Something in her eye screams for help, but he has no idea what. When Lexi disappears, Parker realizes what he should have known. The lines blur between friendships and work, and they must find each other to survive as a terrorist plot that only Lexi can unravel draws closer. Black Dawn can be read as a standalone and does not have a cliffhanger.
I loved this installment. I have wanted to know more about Parker and he finally was able to tell his story and find love at the same time. Your review was spot on!!! (Janna Rhodes 8:52am August 11, 2015)
