Bella Bayne knows how to get a job done, but leading the Edge, her military trained mercenary company, has put her personal life way back on the back burners. Though, to be honest, she would love nothing more than to knock off a few ROUGH EDGES with handsome Victor Temple. Unfortunately, she is his superior and because of her "no fraternizing" rule, he is off limits.

Victor is on loan to Bella so he must abide by her rules, despite his instincts that she is what he wants. They have the same goals but working together is getting harder than he expected. He has always been in charge of his libido, until Bella.

What makes it harder is they have a solid lead on Dr. Norma Stynger, the twisted mind behind Project Threshold -- an evil that had touched Bella as a young girl. Finally they will be able to bring justice to the nutcase. There is a major problem: Bella hasn't quite been herself. Some of her past is affecting her, causing her to act out of character. Has this all been too much for Bella? Will Victor lose her before he can make her believe in love?

ROUGH EDGES is an amazing, captivating read. The action is intense, the characters realistic, and of course the sex is steamy. There are a number of things happening, with one of Bella's men in the hands of the mad doctor, the doctor's daughter, the team members -- even the ones that Bella no longer trusts -- all have their moments. It is all perfectly timed with very little underdeveloped or slow moments.

I have to admit that though I have read other offerings by author Shannon K. Butcher this is the first of the Edge series I have gotten my hands on. I will be picking up the other books as quickly as I can. ROUGH EDGES has an alpha male lead, with a strong woman standing up to him, for herself, and for him, with action, steamy sex and heart touching love. What more can a reader ask for?
