Gigi Scanlon has a chance for the dream summer job, maybe a job for life. The World Council for the Equal Treatment of the Undead needs a programme and database where vampires can look for their living descendants and that's where Gigi will work.
Gigi lives with her sister Iris and her brother-in-law Cal, respectively a recent Undead and an old vampire. Only humans are trusted to work on the new software, vampires deemed unreliable for the job. Cal has been teaching Gigi self-defense against vampires.
Five months prior, The Kiss happened: Gigi kissed a most delectable Undead who had seemed to pop into her life for that sole purpose. Then she is sort of attacked by the same vampire in her job's parking lot by the same vampire who again kisses her! When she tells Cal, he calls an old friend who will be acting as Gigi's bodyguard, and lo and behold it's the same vampire: Nikolai Dragomirov -- Nik, who has the gall to remember nothing!
Molly Harper's paranormal world is simply dazzling! I love how Ms. Harper's vampires are both "good guys" and at the same time dangerous, unpredictable and seductive. I love the author's voice: THE DANGERS OF DATING A REBOUND VAMPIRE is told from Gigi's point of view, and the writing is young, hip, dynamic, with a biting sense of humour. The world is meticulously crafted, totally demented yet logical and again: so much fun! The characters are unusual, entirely believable and so entertaining. What is most fascinating is Gigi's irrational infatuation with Nik: she knows it's stupid but he is so scrumptious, I totally go along with her reasoning because Ms. Harper is such a convincing writer, it all seems perfectly logical.
THE DANGERS OF DATING A REBOUND VAMPIRE is the third instalment in the Half Moon Hollow series, and it definitely can be read as a standalone. I loved THE DANGERS OF DATING A REBOUND VAMPIRE from the first page; Gigi captured my imagination immediately. I had a smile on my face, and I knew right away that going to Half Moon Hollow Kentucky was going to be a most enjoyable journey. Besides the amazing characters, there are some exciting plot twists that made the story even more compelling. I will be going back to read the previous books in this series and I'm looking forward to future ones. THE DANGER OF DATING A REBOUND VAMPIRE is fun, fresh, exciting and full of surprises: excellent!
