EARTH BOUND is Book four in Christine Feehan's Sea Haven series. Characters from Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters series make appearances in EARTH BOUND. However, as someone who has never read previous books in this series or books in the Drake Sisters series, I was still able to follow along without being confused and I enjoyed the story. The only thing that might be a little hard to figure out for readers like me who are new to the series is exactly what special abilities some of the characters have. EARTH BOUND is told from two perspectives.

EARTH BOUND is my favorite book by Christine Feehan that is built around characters who are survivors. The hero, as well as the heroine and her close-knit group of friends, have all gone through some traumatic event or time in their life and been resilient and have made themselves stronger. The farm life that Lexi shares with her friends and their families is an interesting juxtaposition to the cult life Lexi experienced in the past. EARTH BOUND differs a little from other books by Christine Feehan with a similar theme primarily because of the main romantic relationship. There is no struggle for dominance, sexually, between the hero and heroine and I find that to be very appropriate given their backgrounds.

At first glance, Lexi Thompson and Gavriil Prakenskii could not be more different -- she is a gentle earth mother type and he has lived essentially the life of an assassin. However, they both recognize that their painful pasts have made them both survivors. This common understanding adds to their relationship making it richer. Lexi has a lot of bad people after her and its extremely fortunate that she finds her soulmate in a man very skilled at eliminating physical threats. The romance that develops between Lexi and Gavriil is very tender and sensual. I love that Gavriil is a strong man but is a teddy bear when dealing with Lexi. I also really like that he is always respectful toward her and never tries to push her limits in an aggressive way. Christine Feehan has created a wonderfully sexy alpha hero with the perfect amount of sweet to balance out all that rugged masculinity.

EARTH BOUND is both exciting and full of danger as well as a deeply moving love story. The tight relationships between Lexi and her family and Gavriil and his brothers make for some poignant moments. The sexiness in the romance comes after the relationship between Gavriil and Lexi grows and the trust builds. I look forward to the next book in this fascinating Sea Haven series by Christine Feehan!

SUMMARY

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of AIR BOUND returns to the mysterious coastal town of Sea Haven where six sisters of the heart are bound by the elements, and one is stalked by an inescapable past… After escaping from a cult, Lexi found refuge with her sisters on the farm that more than sustained her body—it nurtured her soul as well.  But she never forgot the terror she left behind or the always present fear that the cult would find her again, and claim her. Then her nightmare came true. Lexi was discovered and threatened—only to be suddenly saved by a stranger. He is Gavriil Prakenskii, and he’s awestruck by the woman he’s rescued. She is destined for him. He can feel it in his soul. But how can Lexi find happiness with a man steeped in secrets and shadows, one intimately acquainted with violence, and whose very love could be the death of them?
