I WANT YOU TO WANT ME is Book two in Erika Kelly's Rock Star Romance series. Although this is part of a series, this is the first book by Erika Kelly that I've read. I was able to follow along and enjoy I WANT YOU TO WANT ME even though I'm new to the series. However, after reading and loving I WANT YOU TO WANT ME, I plan on hunting down a copy of the previous book -- YOU REALLY GOT ME - to devour.

I WANT YOU TO WANT ME stands apart from other rocker themed romances because of how fabulous the hero is. What you expect from a huge rock star is a swagger, a certain amount of narcissism, and a tendency toward disposable relationships. What you don't expect from a big name rock star is a vulnerability and sensitivity. Bass player Derek Valencia is an unexpected delight. He takes his band and his music seriously but, thanks to his legendary musician dad, his ego is not bloated. When he meets professional "minder" Violet Davis, she is an answer to a prayer he didn't know he uttered. She's hired by his sister to try to work her magic and clean up some of the band's self-destructive habits.

Erika Kelly does a great job making these characters come to life and seem very genuine. Having the story told from both points of view help the reader understand the characters better. Just as Derek's toxic relationship with his father is fully explained, Violet's past is slowly revealed throughout I WANT YOU TO WANT ME. Violet is an extremely complex and flawed character. The major source of conflict, and obstacle to Derek and Violet's romance, is her inner demons. Although flawed, I also find Violet interesting and sympathetic. Everybody has something they struggle with -- although perhaps to different degrees. The chemistry between them at their first meeting had me hooked. The unabashed yearning Derek has for Violet in I WANT YOU TO WANT ME will make you melt. Erika Kelly creates lovely little pockets of intimacy that will appeal to any romantic.

I WANT YOU TO WANT ME is a compelling romance that is sexy, sweet, full of longing, epic and extremely satisfying. I WANT YOU TO WANT ME is a book you can fall into easily. I look forward to the next book by Erika Kelly.

SUMMARY

From the award-winning author of YOU REALLY GOT ME comes the next romance in her red- hot Rock Star Romance series, about a rocker who lives for his music—and loves with all his heart. Derek Valencia finally has the success he’s worked so hard for. His band is touring its debut album and great reviews are rolling in. But when pictures of him tossing naked groupies off a balcony go viral, it’s damage- control time. He’s assigned a “babysitter” whose sole job is to keep him out of trouble. Violet Davis swore she’d never work in the music industry again, but being a minder for a rock star will earn her enough to pay off the mortgage on her wildflower farm. And for a girl brought up in the foster care system, owning her own home means more to her than anything. Though at first the two bang heads, the rocker and the farm girl soon grow close and realize that they make sweet music together. But can a girl who craves the stability of life on a farm really make it work with a man whose life is spent on the road with his band?
