Romance Historical

Quill McKenna, former army cavalryman, has his hands full. He is the bodyguard to the most powerful man in Stonechurch, Colorado, Mr. Ramsey Stonechurch himself. But Stonechurch is a mine owner with enemies and when his daughter decides to stay home a bodyguard has to be found for her. The requirements make it really hard to find THIS GUN FOR HIRE that fits the job. Calico Nash is a female bounty hunter who isn't too knowledgable on proper feminine qualities agrees to protect Stonechurch's daughter Ann. It's certainly not what she expected ... she has to deal with pretending to be a private tutor, her growing attraction to Quill and dealing with Stonechurch's enemies. But on top of it all she will soon have to choose ... a hard-won independence or getting the life she never dreamed possible. THIS GUN FOR HIRE is fantastic. The action is perfectly portrayed with just the right amount of banter and humor with the gradual build up of suspense to keep you glued to the pages. Author Jo Goodman does a remarkable western, giving enough detail and historical facts to make you know it is Colorado 1888. Quill and Calico are a couple who strike sparks, of one kind or another, off of each other making the anticipation of what comes next really fun for the reader. The snappy dialogue and vivid description of the world the book is set in has you page turning as quickly as possible. I have this one in my TRA shelf and I can't wait to get my hands on the next offering by Ms. Goodman.
