Mischief "Missy" Jones turned down a full ride to attend a
local college because it kept her close to Nene ... the
foster mother who loves and understands her. That hadn't
been an easy task for the woman because Missy is
different.
The only one of her kind she has ever known about.
However,
soon she will learn many different things including all
about MISCHIEF, MONGRELS AND MAYHEM.
Cade Hayes has a mission and taking the job as a teaching
assistant at the college is perfect. This way he can scout
the territory he plans to claim for his pride. The last
thing he expects to find is a mongrel especially one that
doesn't have any idea that there are other beings out
there
including wolves, mountain lions, bears, etc. He also
didn't expect to find the one that turns his mountain lion
on like crazy.
Missy is insulted then intrigued by Cade's words and in a
short time she starts to learn that she isn't alone ...
she
might be mixed breed a "liger" but there are others who
accept her as a shifter. Unfortunately the sexy, TA is a
bossy, pain in the butt and wants to claim her. Not
happening? Missy doesn't take orders ... but she might
fall
in love.
MISCHIEF, MONGRELS AND MAYHAM is a sexy, very fun read
that
you will devour in one sitting. This is book one of the
ROAR
series and I found the set up very interesting because
aside from the love story of Missy and Cade you will be
introduced to a help hotline that has been set up by a
mysterious duo to help young shifters in need and a bar
owned by a Kodiak that is considered neutral territory. A
very neat concept that could probably be used by human
college students who need someone to turn to.
I admit I do not normally read YA as I am older and have
trouble understanding all the angst and complications in
this genre, but confusion and feeling alone is something
that I can understand. You can almost feel the joy
overcoming Missy when she learns that she isn't the only
one like herself. As far as Cade being a jerk about her
being a "mongrel" I thought it hilarious when he realizes
that the "mongrel" is going to be his mate. The secondary
characters; a couple of guys from Cade's pride, a
professor
at the college and a very tough Kodiak bear with all their
varied and intriguing personalities add a lot of support,
humor and peaked interest into this new world. Heather
Long
is one of my favorite authors and my only complaint with
this one was it was way too short... I wanted more.
