Cassie Cooper is aiming toward the ideal PR job at a Washington, D.C., museum so she can be near her twin. Getting the job rests on a great recommendation from her current supervisor, the museum's director. So when her Egyptian masquerade ball at the museum turns into a catastrophe and the highlighted artifacts are stolen, Cassie has to accept the help of Dr. Harrison Standish, a founder of one of the artifacts.
Harrison is convinced that his "show-me-up" brother has arranged for the artifacts to disappear. To protect his brother's name, Harrison makes up a story for the media, the museum director and the Egyptian dignitary who allowed the artifacts to be shown in the Fort Worth museum. Cassie finds herself going along with Harrison's story. They now have just 72 hours to produce the artifacts and find Harrison's brother or Harrison's career is finished and Cassie can kiss her dream job goodbye forever.
As Cassie spends more time with Harrison, his image goes from nerd deluxe to not so bad to pretty darn good. Harrison swore off romance long ago, but Cassie's got a body that distracts him to no end. Cassie notices that Harrison, without glasses and mix-matched clothing, is starting to turn her on.
Ms. Wilde combines humor and sexual play with an adventurous mystery to deliver an entertaining read. Cassie struck me as a contemporary woman who knows what she wants and what she doesn't want. Cassie's desires became apparent rather quickly. Harrison, the protector, hides behind his geeky, intelligent scientist image, but steps out from behind his persona to show he has the stuff.
