Jenna moved back to her home town to help out her aunt Vera. It is the Halloween season, one of Jenna's favorite times of the year. The town always puts on a big celebration. Her Aunt Vera is one of the Winsome Witches. The morning after one of their meetings, the head witch is found dead. Many people witness the fight between the head witch and her daughter. But did the daughter really kill her mother? Jenna is not so sure about the daughter doing it. So her sleuth personality kicks in. Along with her Aunt Vera they check out every circumstance of this murder. Through all of this, Vera losses her powers to forecast the future. However, for some reason, Jenna's seen to come to life. I really enjoyed Stirring the Plot by Daryl Wood Gerber. In the story line, Gerber combines not only the workings of a cookbook store, but also the feeling of living in a small town. Not only do we learn about the funny characters but also what makes them all come together to figure out a crime. In STIRRING THE PLOT, Gerber talks a lot about the recipes that Jenna attempts to make, and these recipes can be found at the end of the book. Having the recipes included is one of the things I really enjoy with culinary mysteries. I could almost taste the food, with the descriptions that Daryl Wood Gerber gives. Now that I have finished STIRRING THE PLOT it's time to get cooking!

SUMMARY

3rd in nationally bestselling Cookbook Nook Mystery series. Halloween in Crystal Cove, California, is a big deal, involving a spooky soiree where the Winsome Witches, a fund- raising group, gather to open up their purse strings and trade superstitions. But party magicians, fortune- tellers, and herbalists are only the beginning of this recipe for disaster... Jenna Hart has packed The Cookbook Nook chock- full of everything from ghostly texts to witchy potions in anticipation of the annual fund-raiser luncheon. But there's one unexpected addition to the menu: murder. When the Head Priestess of the Winsome Witches is found dead under mysterious circumstances, there's no logical answer and plenty of blame to go around. With her aunt, Vera, unable to call on her ability to foresee the future, Jenna will have to use more than just sleight of hand and a few magic tricks to conjure up the truth...
