Laney Briggs has long been considered reckless by the folks of her hometown, but she finally turned that around. She's engaged to the local vet and is deputy sheriff of Pistol Rock, Texas. Everything is just fine until a dead body turns up and Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson is sent to investigate. The guy just happens to be her ex and one of the reasons that Laney was PRETTY RECKLESS.
Gunner Wilson is trouble, and Laney is not about to let those good looks and straining muscles get her in trouble again. She wants a contented, steady life with her fiancΓ©. She really does, but it seems Gunner has the ability to undermine her resolve not to mention her libido.
But as the bodies pile up along with the lies, she is glad that she is allied with her ex even if once again she is feeling PRETTY RECKLESS. Now, if she can get her heart and senses where they should be things might just work out. She's just not sure which way things are going to work out.
PRETTY RECKLESS is a fantastic start to author Jodi Linton's Deputy Laney Briggs series. It's filled with humor, excitement, sexy cowboys and one kick ass, can't stay out of trouble deputy sheriff. Laney has always been the reckless girl in town but she is trying to mend her ways, she even got herself engaged and made deputy at the department. Everything is going as planned but along comes trouble ... it starts with a dead body followed by one smoking one that she still has deep feelings for. Gunner is an alpha Texas Ranger (are there any other kind?) who comes home and finds he still wants Laney. It is fun watching him beat against her sometimes iron will to get what he wants. There are a number of interesting twists and turns in this book leaving you to wonder what kind of town Pistol Rock really is ... because it sure seems like no one is really who they are pretending to be.
If you like mystery, sexy cowboys, a spitfire of a heroine, a chance to laugh out loud ... you will want to get your hands on PRETTY RECKLESS.

for his help.
Having an ex-boyfriend as an ally might not be the best
