At six foot three and more than two hundred fifty pounds,
Fane is a natural born guardian. He has spent years
turning
himself into the muscled perfection and steely precision
that has for years been the sole protector of a
necromancer. Now she is mated and loved by someone else
and
he is adrift. He can't imagine that he will soon be
protecting another from a BLOOD ASSASSIN.
Serra Vetrov is a very powerful psychic, a telepath with
the ability to connect through objects. She just wishes
she
could connect to Fane as easily. She is about to give up,
she's done everything possible to let him know she is
there. It is only when Serra packs up and walks out the
door without telling anyone where she was going ...
something
she would never do that Fane begins to worry.
A powerful high-blood's daughter has been kidnapped and
Serra finds herself helping. Not completely by choice, but
with Fane now by her side they begin to search for the
child. Neither has a choice in the matter; they must find
the girl, protect the high-blood himself or face the
reality that Fane just might lose the only woman he could
ever love.
BLOOD ASSASIN is a fascinating, enthralling, heart
pounding
read. Author Alexandra Ivy continues her Sentinels
series
with this explosive look at Fane, who is at loose ends
after no longer having to protect the necromancer Callie
(her story is "Born in Blood"). I found the dynamic
between
him and Serra interesting; with her dancing toward him and
him backing away. It took her being in danger for the
truth
of what he was doing and missing to hit him between the
eyes. Readers will find other intriguing side stories and
characters in this book. We get to know more about Wolfe,
the Tago (leader of the Sentinels), and the Mave (leader
of
the high-borns) as these two reluctantly work together.
Then there is Bas and his second in command, Kaede, two of
the bad guys, but are they all bad when they both adore
the
little girl who was kidnapped? Though BLOOD ASSASSIN is
part of
a series it is a stand alone and a highly enjoyable one at
that. If you have not read Ms. Ivy's Sentinels
series you
will want to pick up Born in Blood because they are
fantastic reads. I cannot wait for the next one!
They are the outcasts of humanity. Blessed with power.
Cursed by fate. Driven by passion. The Sentinels have
returned. . .
