Paranormal

Eloise Montgomery loved her life. She had a good husband and two lovely teenage girls. She had a normal life and she was just fine with that. Then, one morning, tragedy struck and everything changed in an instant. The end result left Eloise with a "gift" that she never asked for and never wanted. Yet, it seemed that she was suddenly psychic and could see things that no one else could. Victims of violent deaths began to visit her and would not let her go until she had delivered the message of who the police needed to look for in connection to the deaths.

Eloise did not have an easy time of it but she finally found one police detective who believed her. That did not turn out to be great news, though. Once he knew what she could do, he not only wanted her help, but demanded it. Eloise may be able to help catch murderers but what will she lose of herself in the process?

THE WHISPERS is sort of a prequel to Lisa Ungers' Whispers series and any fan of Unger's books will know exactly who Eloise Montgomery is. This is her backstory and allows the readers to get to know her a little better while offering a glimpse into how she became able to do what she does. She is the town's reluctant psychic and is both loved and feared by the residents of The Hollows, which is something that she has grown to accept. Being basically the town outcast was not her dream existence, but she learns to deal with it and is resigned to the way people tend to feel about her.

The story of Eloise Montgomery is quite captivating and will be even more so to fans of The Hollows series. In fact, it is a must read for those fans of which I count myself as one. THE WHISPERS is a creepy crawly short tale that will make you want to run, not walk, to the nearest bookstore or library and get started reading The Hollows books. It is a fascinating introduction to this mesmerizing little town of ordinary and not so ordinary people.
