Hate sex has never been more sexier than in Elle Kennedy's MIDNIGHT ACTION. Book five in the Killer Instincts series, Kennedy pits sexy assassin Noelle Phillips against her archenemy Ex-army ranger Jim Morgan. The two share a past that complicates their relationship and since then they haven't been able to forgive each other.
When Noelle is hired by a middleman to take Jim out, she hops right back to him, dangling the piece of information over his head. Jim knows he is in trouble, but it doesn't seem to compare to the burning desire he has Noelle. Both characters are very strong and alpha and when I say they are not very pleasant to each other, that is an understatement. However, their sex is so off the charts hot that I was surprised the book didn't combust in my hands.
Kennedy tells their story by showing their past in one chapter and showing them later in the present in the next. While it gives readers the background we need to appreciate the book, I also thought it tiring after awhile. Every advancement made in the past is then taken back with events in the present. I found that it disrupts the pacing a little bit. Also, Noelle's abuse is showcased in the beginning but is never really addressed in the end. It gets overlooked and I don't think that's ever a good thing when something that serious occurs.
As I mentioned earlier, the sex is mindblowingly hot, but Kennedy also has a distinct writing style that I've come to enjoy while reading her books. That's what keeps me coming back for more. If you're looking for something to heat up the nights, MIDNIGHT ACTION will get your heart racing for sure.
