Jill Shalvis is a genius -- or a mind reader -- or perhaps a cross between the two. How else do you explain why she just knew we needed to continue the story she started in Head Over Heels. The story of Chloe and Sawyer -- without a doubt one of my favorite couples. IN MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY Jill Shalvis tells us the next chapter of Chloe and Sawyer. Usually this can be accomplished in a few sentences or paragraphs in one of the next installments in a series, but Shalvis knew her fans wanted a dedicated story -- even if just a novella -- it would make us all so happy.
What better time than the holidays to bring happiness to us all. Shalvis fans have invested quite a bit of humor and heart in the characters that we have come to know and love in the Lucky Harbor series.
So in MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY we are treated to the welcome to the world for baby Thompson known affectionately as The Bean until the actual birth. Of course it wasn't going to be the usual having a baby story -- come on now - it's Chloe and Sawyer and their merry band of friends. Each of them comes with a richly fabricated tale having starred in their own Lucky Harbor book.
They are all together to welcome in the newest member of their gang. And it is going to be an adventure. We wouldn't expect any less.
Chloe has the worst case of pregnancies rampant hormones and with her long term insecurities they are creating an angst filled holiday time. Sawyer's off on still another mission and Chloe wants to be part of the partying scene -- even if she is eight months along. She keeps working her magic on her friends and their husbands getting them to disobey all the guidelines set by Sawyer in his effort to keep his wife and their unborn baby safe and sound. Well of course you know it's not going to happen without some major hiccups and that's where the joy and fun comes in. It helps to know that tough guy Sawyer is an absolutely mush when it comes to his wife. He is an absolutely romantic. Chloe is such a lucky woman -- even if in her present state of mind she has some traumatic doubts.
All's well that ends well and Jill Shalvis knows that her fans want this extraordinary couple to finally find their bliss and in MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY with the help of their friends -- they will.
Looking for a worthwhile novella this season -- MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY is it.
