The incomparable Jennifer Probst kicks off with Searching for You. Riley Fox and Dylan McCray are both rich, successful and looking for true love, so they try Kinnections, a matchmaking agency with an 80% success rate. The problem is: on paper they are complete opposites, yet the system determined they are a perfect match. They meet but not quite exactly as planned. Absolutely delicious: sinfully sexy, wonderfully colourful characters, but most of all featuring some of the most sparkling, witty, brilliant dialogues ever! The banter between Riley and Dylan is priceless! Ms. Prosbst strikes gold again!
Drew and Kate, from Emma Chase's Tangled are featured in It's a Wonderful Tangled Christmas Carol. With a dash of It's a Wonderful Life, the story was bound to be a bit predictable given that the premises have been used oftentimes, but nothing could quite beat Drew's musings on Christmas shopping, traditions, and his initial lack of Holiday spirit. His rants are positively hilarious and I could have read more of them for pages!
In Saving Grace, by Kristen Proby, Grace Douglas and her friends are planning a bachelorette weekend in Aspen for 2 of them who are getting married. Grace, a schoolteacher, has been living in Montana for a few years but does not ski, so her friends treat her to a weekend of ski lessons at a nearby ski lodge. Grace is a klutz and she's afraid she'll kill herself skiing, but when she meets Jacob, whom she believes to be her ski instructor, she decides to be brave and go for it. What an adorable character, this Grace! I loved the female camaraderie, the charming Jacob; I loved the whole thing! A scorching hot adult fairy tale! I was unfamiliar with Ms. Proby's books but this novella made me a fan! Super!
Safe in His Arms by Melody Grace is about Natalie Duncan, a schoolteacher from California on her way to her first job in Montana. Just as she gets out of her car to get into her new home, she slips right into the arms of Hawk Winchester! Hawk's mom and her matchmaking friends picked Natalie for the job. While off to a rather shaky and snarky start, Natalie and Hawk slowly warm up to each other. Ms. Grace is a true artist when it comes to character portrayal; it's extremely well written, nicely paced, sweet and spicy; delightful.
Kate Meader is last but not least with Rekindle the Flame, aptly titled since Beck Rivera is a fireman! He had unceremoniously dumped Darcy Cochrane 7 years ago, and what should happen when he literally crashes into Darcy, who is in Chicago for a little while. And she's getting out for revenge in ways Beck would never have suspected! A fun, very sexy story about things untold, growing up and changing. Great, young, modern characters
